Great experience here. We had a large party and we had a private room with a bartender and servers for a buffet style dinner. The team did a fabulous job, were friendly and handled our large group with grace. The food was great - started with salsa and Queso bar and then we had an assortment of Tex mex, enchiladas, and build your own tacos. Loved it!

Michael is the best waiter here at Z’Tejas. I’ve enjoyed my stay in Austin trying almost everything on the Menu. Happy hour appetizers from 3- 6 everyday. Loved it all. Catfish beignets, Yuca fries, mushroom shrimp enchiladas, spinach pecan encrusted chicken with Gorgonzola, beer battered fish tacos. Cebollas locas. Loved it all, wish I had more time here.

My overall experience at Z’Tejas was very underwhelming. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, and my mimosa but that was about it.Even as our area started to clear out, service was incredibly slow for us to the point where I noticed that tables that sat down after us were receiving food before we were. After giving our drink order, we were told that cornbread would be out to our table soon: never even saw that cornbread. We sipped on our drinks for close to an hour before our entrees came out. My boyfriend had to get a new plate of tacos because they came cold and had obviously been sitting out.I had the Chrorizo Migas and I liked the presentation, but for how many ingredients were in it…it was pretty bland. I ate a couple of bites and decided that I would take it home to season, reheat and eat later. There has been a lot of hype around Z’Tejas…and for me, they didn’t live up to that this time around. I do want to come back during a less busy hour and try something different!Update: Both my boyfriend and I were given an email to talk to management about our experience and for them to “make it right” I’m sure that’s JUST for aesthetics to make them look better on review platforms because no one has bothered to reply to both of our emails. Either that, or they’re always “busy” and need better time management skills. I don’t think there’s a need to give Z’Tejas another chance, plenty of other places with better food and definitely better customer service skills ?

Michael is the most amazing server I have ever come across. His recommendations on food were stellar. I super loved the mushroom enchiladas he suggested to get the jerk chicken and spinach on. What a very fun, and enthusiastic server. I have worked in the service industry for years and I don't know that I have even encountered such an awesome single serving friend, including looking at myself in the mirror.

Z Tejas was a cool spot to have dinner before our concert! We were seated and then after about 10 minutes the owner, Randy comes over to our table and spends 5-10 minutes talking to us and getting to know us all which was really cool and truthfully humble from a typical business owner. The food was great and the drinks we're even better! I got the Baseball Cut Sirloin which came wrapped in bacon with asparagus and mashed potatoes and I added the shrimp! All of my meal was amazing, the steak was great! Perfectly cooked and had lots of flavor especially when you throw a little of everything into one bite! On top of how good our meals were, we got queso and cornbread and those highly exceeded expectations! The next time your around 6th for an event or just looking for a spot to grab dinner, give Z Tejas a try!

I have been here before during COVID and it was actually alot better than my last trip. I wanted Mexican food and for the most part it is, but they claim its Southwest. I asked if they had a burrito and they didnt. I was kind of shocked considering they have catfish beignets and chicken fried steak on the menu of Mexican dishes. How do you not have some kind of burrito? Why is chicken fried steak listed as a specialty plate? The other thing was we had 7 people and they brought chips and no salsa? I had to ask for more chips as we waited for what seems 30 minutes to get our food in a half empty restaurant. Overall it just was a bummer and luckily the rest of my party was not able to get there in time. I wont go back.

What is a catfish beignets?Unfortunately I did not find out what’s catfish beignets are but brunch at Z’tejas is tasty, filling and pretty great on the weekend. The menu has the traditional tex-mex classics but also some slightly different dishes: babacoa omelet as one is the perfect meat and egg combo. Although the potatoes can use a little crisp up- or not be covered and soggy-fied by omelet.Fijita egg is so good. with all the extra, it probably should have been a plate for 2.Happy eating

The food was OK. Loved the outdoor seating. Definitely worth a try!

Z Texas is a long time favorite and the ownership change has not diminished the quality. The menu, service sand food were all excellent.

Best Mexican food in Central Texas. It was nice and cozy in there today on this VERY COLD Texas February day. Our server, Scotty, was terrific and very attentive. Oh yeah ... PLUS GREAT app prices at Happy Hour 7 days/week!
