I came here for the first time, I ordered 4 pieces of sushi and a bowl of ramen. The man who came in after me got 10+ pieces of sushi and left before I got the rolls pictured. They were tuna, oddly tart and dry tuna. I never got my other 2 peices, the sushi chefs really didn't care. This place is close to my house and I had such high hopes but I won't be back.2 stars because the ramen wasn't bad.
I have been here 3 times and each time my Shoyu broth is slightly different in both a good and bad way. But i can tell its homemade. Their shrimp tempura is the best I've ever had and their noodles are always cooked perfectly. Overall for the price you get a good amount of food! Glad this is near me!
What a fantastic sushi spot! I unfortunately did t try their ramen or noodle dishes but I ate all the sushi! This place seems like a hole in wall, (albeit a clean one). But don’t let the small space and store front deter you. The prices are small yes, but the flavors are big! The portion sizes are also phenomenal.I ordered an avocado, California, and a Texas (Tempura fried) roll and they were incredible. The Texas roll was big as well. So big I had to compare it my arm like some do in some videos on the internet! :D unfortunately I had already eaten a piece before I got the photo.I also ordered the tempura fried veggies from their appetizer menu and it was so good. It had tempura fried sweet potato, broccoli, and zucchini and we destroyed them! The customer service was great! I’m glad they’re located in south Austin, because North Austin seems to have all the great spots.
Nice quaint place. One server for many tables. My husband said the chicken teriyaki tasted “old” or undercooked or something. He was given another dish and it tasted the same. My poke bowl was delicious though! However, for $15 I thought the poke bowl should have been larger. I was still hungry after eating.
The sushi here is FANTASTIC! I eat sushi a few times per month, and I've been to well over a hundred different restaurants, and this is definitely one of the best. The fish is very fresh, the portion sizes are extremely generous, and the prices are very reasonable. They also have a very creative variety of rolls that I haven't seen anywhere else. The Tiger roll in particular is AMAZING! It is one of the best-tasting rolls I've ever had in my life. I look forward to coming back here again soon.
DISAPPOINTING:If you are looking for authentic Japanese food, don't look for it here OR please lower your expectations. This is mall food to say the least.WAITING TO GET SEATED:On a Friday night, it was packed! Good for them!! However, there's no waiting area or a hostess area. Be okay to wait outside. They do call you when a table is ready.DON'T GET THE SPICY TONKATSU RAMEN:They literally just add sriracha to make the tonkatsu spicy, not even chili oil. I find that so strange and I'm Chinese. Noodles and egg are the best part. That's it.DON'T GET THE VEGETABLE TEMPURA:Batter is not traditional tempera - hard and no flavor! I had to add soy sauce to the dipping sauce. However the vegetables inside were tasty and the dish did come out very hot.YAKISOBA WAS OKAY...This stir fry noodles are more chow mein noodles that you get from the mall. It's super oily and very basic. One good thing is it's a HUGE dish.SUSHI:We didn't get sushi but it didn't look that great since we were sitting at the sushi bar...GREAT SERVICE:Food wasn't great but the staff was super friendly and attentive. That's why it's a two star not one.
Walked in on prime lunch time on a Friday and was shocked to see most tables were available. First thing to note is that it’s a seat yourself restaurant. As soon as we sat, we were greeted by our server with menus and she had great recommendations. She suggested we try the Ramen as it was our first time here and boy were we glad we listened! I got the spicy grilled shrimp ramen and fiancée got the pork belly. It was so flavorful and it had just the right amount of spice. We had also ordered the spicy edamame which was ok, and the calamari which was fresh. We came out so full and satisfied. Will be back for sure!
Took my daughter to Austin to have an authentic experience. I ordered a ramen- tonkotsu broth with grilled shrimp and an extra egg. The broth and noodles gave me life! The customer service was fantastic, my waiter was fire and didn’t mind any of my questions. The meal literally spoke for itself. Daughter really liked the spring rolls, and she was really excited to have pink lemonade lol. Loved it, would be back ?????
Sooo good!! I love it! The tonkotsu ramen was delicious the broth is light and yet still has that comforting creaminess to it, the saltines was also good for our broth. The sushi rolls we tried were the crunchy roll, Philadelphia roll, tuna and salmon avocado rolls! They were all great and the portions were awesome for the rolls. Definitely try it and definitely a place to keep coming back to so awesome to have a ramen bar closer south now! Also the honey milk tea!! So delightful ?
