Normally one of my favorite bars to visit. Haven't eaten a meal here, only snacks, but the fries are always tasty. Good drinks for reasonable prices too. On our last trip though we were sitting at a booth and happened to glance up at the ceiling and noticed the rafters were covered in what looked like years of dust build up. With the fans running on a hot day some of it was even being blown down onto the tables (luckily no dust bunnies landed in our beers). I do love this bar, but it could use a deep cleaning floor to ceiling.
It's a dive bar! Drinks are SUUUUPER cheap. Impressively cheap. The back patio can sometimes reek of cigarette smoke so I rarely go out there. The burgers here are excellent, you must try!
Genuinely the best god damn burger I’ve ever had. Bonus, their signature margarita is also insanely good. All of which are at a very reasonable price (which is quite rare here in Austin)
Great staffThe house margarita I ordered wasn't for me and neither was the new mexico red chili burger. The chili was smokier than I'm used to, but once I scraped the chili off, the burger was well prepared. The fries were also super salty, but I rarely ding a place for fries because fries are such a personal preference (mine, specifically).I 100% ordered wrong, as my friend, a local, kindly told me. The correct order is a veggie burger and parmesan fries. NEXT TIME.
great food and awesome staff besides the cook who messed up the order and then when we went back to get the order the bar staff replaced for free for the mess up it still wasn't made correctly. idk if the dude in the back just has the "ego" thing and it was intentionally messed up again but it seemed that way. how hard is it to add blue cheese to a burger dude.
Laid back! Music indoors and outdoors! Special burger was so good, including the fries crisp and delicious! Highly recommend for an affordable tasty dinner!
Drinking at the tigress but want to get some food and cheaper drinks? Walk next door to the Workhorse! The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is good, so why aren’t ya here yet if ya want good food and reasonable drinks.The food was delicious, I personally had the grilled chicken and my date had the workhorse veggie. The grilled chicken was great, they didn’t skimp on the avocado and it was a good size to sober you up after drinking all day. , the jalapeño cream corn was AMAZING, perfectly mixed with a hint of spice that even those that can’t handle spice could enjoy. My date seemed to really enjoy her meal and I snagged a few sweet potato fries and they’re as good as any, nothing special but meet your expectations for fries.The drinks were solid as well, not as good as tigress obviously but still solid. The racehorse shots were sweet and bitter, the NoLo Paloma was AMAZING, I got the lazy pony and had to admit the NoLo was better, probably the best drink I tried at workhorse. The drinks are surprisingly good for the price!Overall if ya want to drink, a veggie friendly bar food option or just want good food in general this spot is perfect. If you’re in the neighborhood I highly recommend ya check this spot out!
We love everything about this place except for the fact that both the front deck and outside back porch allows smoking. As a non smoker we must sit inside, which we rarely choose to do when we eat out. Any chance the front can be reserved for non smokers?
Great bar. The beer is cheap & the food is delicious. They have a nice back patio that’s perfect for a warm day. The margs are also fantastic!
Cool spot for a drink. Nice and laid back, with a friendly staff. Decent prices and they pour a good drink.
