10000000 times better than rolling rooster. Great customer service when you walk in the door I highly recommend and the food was great and hot even though I couldn’t dine-in

Wow! The food was amazing. I got the platter because I wanted to try everything. The picture below was after I was finished eating so the portions were generous. The chicken wings were fried to perfection and well seasoned and not greasy at all. The mac and cheese and the greens were another winner. It takes some time to get your food so if you're in a hurry this is not the place but the food was definitely worth the wait.
My husband goes to the vape shop next door and they gave him a flyer for Whip My Soul and said how good the food is. Today I was looking for something and saw that flyer and googled it to see pictures and reviews. After reading so many 5 star reviews singing their praises, I excitedly ordered lunch for us, from them. I have zero idea how they got all of those raving reviews, because I literally threw mine out. Nothing I tasted was even remotely close to good. I didn't take a pic of everything, but this was my chicken strips and shrimp. The breading on both was completely falling off. My chicken was so dry and bland that I tried different sauces to try and get it down, but gave up. Next bit into the shrimp and spit that out because it was very undercooked. On to the greens that were just mediocre and same for the mac and cheese. Fried pickles to the rescue??? NOPE! breading falling of those as well, and they tasted like old fish grease. I am extremely disappointed as I love some good soul food, and thought I had found a good spot. Nope, the search continues ☹️

The food was fresh and delicious. I cook and am very picky. It is seldom that I eat as a place and have no complaints. My entire meal was delicious. The food was cooked just right and the portions were a great size.
The energy of this place reminds you of grandma house ??. Is hard to find a spot that fry chicken exactly how black folks fry chicken. Customer service is always great. Try the shrimp and grits too!!!!
It was Easter Sunday and I was craving some Soul Food after church since I'm new to Austin. The closest restaurant near me was Whip My Soul and did it do just that! The young man at the register was very kind and offered excellent customer service. He informed me about the wait, but since it was a holiday I expected that much, plus it's made fresh so I was cool with that. The interior is pleasing and it was good to have tv watching options while I waited. I received my food from a very hospitable server. One look at the food had my mouth watering. The aesthetics of the food were very pleasing and the taste.... Oh my goodness EVERYTHING was so delicious. I was missing my family and our Easter Sunday dinners, but Whip My Soul made me feel like I was back at home. Thank you. I will definitely become a Sunday regular. Oh and the kool-aid was nostalgic and the lemon cake!
After seeing others rave about Whip My Soul, I put it on my "go here soon" list. Today was that day and the food and Antonio didn't disappoint!Sample plate of pork chop, 1 wing and 1 fish with 2 sides is large enough to share with a dining buddy. Cheesy Mac and fries okra were our choices and both were superb! The pork chop was large, juicy & tender with a crispy crust. Loved the wing and fish too.Southern egg roll was collard greens and bacon with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. I'm not a collard green fan but my dining buddy said she would order it again it was so good.We had two desserts - peach cobbler and caramel cake. Delicious! Brought 1/2 of each home and had them for dinner.Antonio made sure we had good service. Order at the counter, get your drink, find a table and wait ( short period of time) for your food to arrive.Put Whip My Soul on your way here list. Located in a strip center on 620 near Anderson Mill.
The restaurant is in a very nice area of town. It is clean and the service is fast. The customer service was impeccable. The food is cooked to order and fresh. The food is seasoned but no salty. I really loved the greens and yams.
