Music was on point! Definitely the true definition of Soul Food. Felt very welcomed!! Definitely will visit again. Oh and that Suicide Kool-aid was the bomb!!
Hubs and I decided to pop in for a quick beer on our way home. We live in the neighborhood but never stopped in before. So glad we did! We decided we just wanted a snack so split a 4 wing and waffle combo. Our server, Nicky, suggested we get the wings just “dusted”. Did as she suggested and we were so pleased. And the waffle was so light and airy. Wonderful find and we will be back!!!
Let me preface this review by saying their chicken and waffles are AMAZING... so if you ever actually get your food, it's great.We've ordered from this location a few times and have had some issues before - e.g items missing even though we were charged for them, the order getting delayed, etc. It all seemed worth it because of how good the food is and we liked being able to support a local business. But this week was the last time we will be ordering from this restaurant.We placed an online order (2 entrees + 1 side) at 5:30pm with an ETA of 6:10. When we arrived on time, we were told it wasn't ready yet and to wait 15 minutes. No problem! We have no issues waiting a little longer. By 6:45pm they told us the order had actually been "missed" and had never even been submitted... and they would make it right away. Again, we understand mistakes happen and decide to wait. After several follow ups and promises of "a few more minutes," we still had no food by 7:20pm, almost 2 hours after our original order. We asked for the order to be cancelled and got a refund. So disappointing, there's no point in serving great food if you can't complete the orders.
I went here for the first time this week and I was blown away. The food was amazing. Chicken crispy, fish seasoned perfect, buttermilk waffle (YES!) and lemon pepper okra was the best I ever had.I saw the bad reviews about the service and atmosphere but hey, it's a soul food chicken shack! I've been to worse. The staff was friendly and yes they didn't come often but I was so busy stuffing my face, I didn't care. All I know is by time I finished my Kool Aid, they were offering to get me a refill. I had to share though, I don't need all that sweet goodness.We also had pork chops and the oxtails. Both of these dishes won me over. If you are wanting a taste of grandmas kitchen, this is the place. I will go back, for sure. Hands down, the best soul food in Austin! I know, I live here.
For $30 I expected an close to home cooked meal the gravy tasted bland and the rice was rubbery as if it was precooked and soggy I would’ve thought the rice come on the side and the 2 small ox tails had mainly fat . It was more of an oxtail low sodium soup
We ate here for the first time last week and it was so good. The waffles are the best I've ever had. We will be visiting again. I have to say, that it is not diabetic friendly, so if you want sugar free syrup with your waffle they don't have it. I ate mine without any and it was still delicious.
The ketchup, ranch, and tartar sauce all need to be thrown away and remade. We ate here last night and I'm waking up to me throwing up everywhere. The service was outstanding though...THANK YOU Z!Please go in and check your restaurant. The condiments and food are not being stored properly. I could go to the hospital and get this place shut down frfr. If a mystery shopper came in, y'all will fail. Get it together Rolling Rooster!
I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!! The first experience I had there... I walked into the place and "be without you" by Mary J Blige was playing!!! From that, I knew it was going to be my new place! I have tried the hush puppies, okra, and the chicken and waffles, they are all soooo good!! The hotsauce with all of my good is amazing!!!!! If you come here, you will NOT regret it. ?
we are not from the area we were in and were very hungry. We chose the Rolling Rooster. The food and service was great. We had the chicken & waffles and buffalo burger. Oh my Lord it was all delicious! if your up for some good food, we recommend this place! ??
It is with great dismay, and regrets I feel not only my responsibility but my obligation and duty to write this review. As an African-American consumer I choose when possible to support black-owned business. I find it unfortunate on rare occasions that we give passes for the inconsistencies, lack of service and quality of product to our own that we would never allow to our counterparts.On Friday evening I made a small catering order for a gathering at my home which consisted of 1/2 pan of greens, 1/2 pan of mac and cheese and 1/2 pan or in this case 27 "FRIED WINGS w/extra dust". I asked to pick up this order precisely at 11:30am the following day - Saturday.Due to past experiences with my order not being ready upon arrival and having to wait an addition 25 to 45 mins. Upon my arrival this time at 11:40 I opted to call to ensure my pick up was ready. The host advised me that they had not begin the order since they wanted it to be hot upon my arrival so the would get started right away and it would be ready when I arrived ( I'm here??).Finally picked up my order 45 mins later and behind schedule. I arrived at home and to my dismay the order for wings were completely wrong. For the price of 27.00 I got (27) dried up/old hot wings (chicken jerky) see photo below. I am convinced that these "wingettes" we're NOT just prepaired fresh. I called in and spoke to the same host who apologized explaining the the cook was new and didn't quite understand the order. She went on to explain I could return but there would be a 30 upcharge ?.ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! I inquired about my inconvenience of not getting my order when requested and driving all the way home (South Park Meadow) only to discover the gave me the wrong wings??♂️. She stated if I had ordered this before I should know there was an upcharge. She apologized again for the new cook, but she could not give me free wings. What about my inconvenience, my time, and my gas fir travel. I ordered the night before, not my fault you have a new cook that does not know the difference between wings and wingettes (see photo below).You saved 30.00 but you lost a FAITHFUL customer. Rolling Rooster ?, KEEP ON ROLLING, but I'm getting off this train for Better Service, and Better Quality of food ?
