This is still one of the best dive bars in Austin Texas, and I say that proudly. I love walking in here remembering all the good time and drink I have had. I also love knowing it's where my uncle used to drink 30 years ago. Happy hour is cheap and the beer is cold. I always look forward to hanging out here. Since 1974
Dim lighting and perfectly mismatched fixtures make this the perfect dive bar! We had a great time listening to live music in a chill environment.
This is one of my favorite bars in Austin! Especially on Friday afternoon - the brilliant Jenny Parrott plays a 5pm set and the Lynn, best bartender in town, is behind the bar. It's not to miss!
Carson is the best bartender. He also has great hair and he’s really funny. This is an awesome Kareoke bar and place to drink if your intro or extrovert
Awesome staff, cozy setting, indoor and outdoor patio areas. An austin original. Bands! Hear me: parking for load in and load out is abysmal. To load in the front stage, you will be blocking traffic to come in the front door. Rear load-in for the main stage is through the large wrought iron gate. The rear parking lot has now been taken over by the douchey sparts bar next door, so you will just hafta circle the block and hopefully get lucky, or (gasp!) PAY to park down the street in a lot... of note, street parking IS free after 6pm.
Don't open a tab here, or leave credit card with bartender behind bar. Had my credit card number stolen and fraud charges starting the next day. I recommend to only pay in cash!
One of the best Music venues I've ever been to for local artists and those on tour. One of the best bassists I've ever seen played here one night.I recited poetry to a crowd here in 2015 when I was finishing my degree at the University of Texas. The bathroom is epically tagged by nearly everyone who has ever visited or was a regular here.Indoor and outdoor seating. Bouncer and cover at the door.Good, respectful crowd.Drink responsibly and you're sure to have a night to remember. Drink less responsibly, remember less.Either way please do not drink and drive. It's too easy to get an uber or Lyft or Cab on the Drag, as this part of Guadalupe Street is called.Caution: Guadalupe is pronounced "Gwad-a-Loop" by local Austinites.Have a great time!!!Zack
favorite place to watch rock bands, the sound will blow your ears off. make sure to bring ear plugs if you're sensitive and/or want to preserve your hearing
Great time! Saw my friend perform at the stage, played pool, took some pictures in the photo booth. Can't wait to go back :)
I first began hanging out here in 1985, when they had pool tables and a FREE jukebox. Saw Timbuk 3 here. Seemed a lot like heaven.
