This is one of the last place is in Austin that feels like old Austin. If you want to go and have an eclectic time at a outdoor venue that has live music and great drinks, this is the place. From music to art to crafts, this place has it all. they even have some great food trucks that are open sometimes.
Remember that sketchy little biker bar with rocks covering the exterior of the building, waaaaaay down South Congress almost to Slaughter?? Well they took that dive over and completely renovated it. Think Sagebrush. Except even bigger outdoor courtyard area. In fact there are not one, but 2 outdoor stages. Great news bands, they are covered stages with plenty of fans to prevent heat stroke. Food trucks and other sordid vendors line the exceptionally large outdoor courtyard. And yes plant-based people there is even a Vegan food truck (Forking Vegan. Try the Lion's Mane sandwich ?). Did i mention that the staff is also physically attractive? Basically you cannot lose here.
I don't live in Austin, but my brother does. I come to Texas to visit a couple times a year, and no matter what else we do, we always end up at Far Out Lounge. They have a tiny building and a huge yard. Bands play outside under their big tent. As a person who works in event production I'd say their rig is not fancy visually, but it always sounds great. The bands they book tend to be eclectic, but vary widely depending on the night.Their staff is friendly and attentive. They will help you decide which of the 30 beers on tap you want. The crowd varies, but is generally friendlyThey generally have free water available. There were 3 food trucks open out of 6? on site last time i visited.Plan on spending your time outside here. Daytime? Bring a hat. Night time? Bring an extra layer. They only take credit inside for drinks and such. Plan accordingly.
At Far Out Lounge for the first time. Love the space, the food trucks, bars, etc. BUT! The stage needs to be higher. And the tent needs to go. Think Gruene Dance Hall, raised stage, so paying customers can actually SEE the band! And the weird psychedelic light show? What was that? Never changed? I overheard in bathroom that this was the biggest concert ever at this place, so giving some grace. But moving forward, please RAISE THE STAGE!!
Great South Austin bar. They have a massive back patio area with great alternating food trucks, live music under a large tent and 2 outdoor bars. Their house special smokey margarita is amazing too
Great Monday Motown night! Awesome band and warm feeling.
I LOVE this place! Such an intimate atmosphere, but enough space for group privacy. First time I visited this place, I didn't know there was live music in the back. I went back there and saw a ton of people with their dogs enjoying the band, and the band was awesome. The vibe at this place is just so chill; it's the perfect place to wind down after a late shift.
Great places to grab a drinkOr catch a show. They often have a lot of great bands booked and it’s a great outdoor event space. Lots of good cocktails and great draft beer selection available. They’re very dog friendly and offer food trailers if you get hungry while you hang.
Great space for outdoor shows. Also the drinks are food and reasonably priced.Nice atmosphere and good vibes. You'll love the food and plant trailers as well!
Wonderful experience @ the Far Out Lounge with Staff & Vendors with an awesome Manager Pedro @ The 2nd Taste of Texas Hemp Cup...the band White Denim carried the crowd... ???
