4 stars? I was expecting lower quality. Definitely a good sushi spot. They have happy hour every day and prices go about ~15-$20 a specialty roll. Really nice place and the waiters were great would recommend
I’ve been here a few times and I love the sushi here. They have a unique cocktail menu but I didn’t love their cocktails - would recommend doing more basic drinks. The only downside is the wait times can be really really long, I think they may be understaff. It can take 30 minutes or more to get your food once seated.
An excellent sushi restaurant. Not my first visit but a usual stop when I visit Austin. In Old West Austin, the environment is very contemporary with a friendly low key vibe. The three rolls we had were superb and my grandson really enjoyed his Unagi (eel). I won't hesitate to return on my next visit to the city.
The best bang for your buck sushi bento boxes. You'll walk away satisfied, but hungry for more. Ask for their appetizer menu. The pan fried soft shell crabs is delicious.
We went to Sushi Zushi with an Open Table reservation and was told that this restaurant does not take reservations. Me and the rest of the party were extremely disappointed. We don’t understand why having your restaurant on open table and not being able to take those reservations makes sense. They told us we had to be put on the waitlist to be seated. It’s frustrating because we came here to celebrate my friends birthday and I had to frantically figure out what other restaurant would take us. The hostess said there was nothing she could do which was very cold and not accommodating to our situation at all. I would give 0 stars if I could.
I showed up for my reservation on time. There was no one at the front of the house and we were ignored for about 10-15 minutes. All of the other patrons appeared to be asking about why their food was taking so long and they were clearly understaffed. We left and ate elsewhere before anyone acknowledged us.
Decor is old and tired. Service was pretty slow with only 1 waiter servicing the entire restaurant which was almost empty. The sake was ok. Fish was not fresh; weird colors, strong fishy smell, sloppy presentation, taste was a step or 2 down from grocery store prepackaged sushi. It was pretty cheap and easy to get a last minute table, but everybody in our group agreed we would not be coming back.
Food was good, we had spicy edamames, bora bora and cossimo sushi. However, the service was very very slow. We went on a Sunday night, the restaurant was pretty empty but a lot of drivers waiting for their food by the door. We waited over 25 min for our first sushi plate, we ate it and after 15 min they brought us the second sushi. So, we had to share both of them because we were hungry and each plate was taking so long. If you do not mind waiting this place is for you, otherwise I will pass.
Sushi was decent however the wait was horrible. There were only 4 tables of people including us at 5pm on a Monday. After ordering it took 1 hour to get 3 sushi rolls to us. The waitress apologized saying they were alot of to-go orders. After our family ate 3 rolls we asked how long if we ordered another roll and they said atleast 30 minutes. Knats were a problem and had to be waved off. There was food on the wall and it felt dirty
Awesome place, if your perfect ideal sushi experience is to wait a couple of hours on your order! And the service is phenomenal, specially when service dont operate with a sense of urgency, servers walk around as if they are busy, regardless of how many people there are!! Inconsiderate about peoples time. This place is not that great for the time you have to wait for food!! Zero stars!!
