I am not sure what is good AYCE sushi in Austin, and this is coming from the Dallas area, i had high hopes seeing the amount of 5 stars that this sushi place had, however, the sushi here was not impressive.THE NIGIRI: There is too much rice and too thin fish on the nigiri. It's currently priced at $37 for AYCE so you might have expected some pieces that actually were big enough.THE GINGER AND WASABI: The ginger had dark edges around it, i believe it is old. The sweet shrimp had a slimy texture which unfortunately is not what raw shrimp should be like. You can't taste the wasabi at all. It seems no matter how much wasabi i put on my nigiri i cant seem to taste anything.THE KARAAGE: We ordered the karaage, first of all they give out so many pieces it's as if they are trying to stuff you with cheap chicken so that you cant order more of the other stuff, secondly the chicken has a promising crunch at first only to be followed with a seasonless batter, dry meat, and it feels like its been microwaved due to its sort of flattening like texture.THE EYEBROW RAISER: The blackboard on the wall was written in what is known as "wonton font" which has been controversial through the years. I wont bring piunts down as i am giving the benefit of the doubt, but this comment is meant to be constructive criticism so that you may avoid any unnecessary controversy moving forward.THE SERVICE: Although there were many negatives about the food, the service was good except the fact that they seated a 6 person party right next to us in an empty restaurant.Overall this place needs work, I can't see myself walking in here ever again but I hope my review will help this business improve.

I have tried both the location here in downtown Austin and the 2 location up in north Austin. If you’re looking for seating of a large group more than four, this downtown location is not for you. HOWEVER, if you can minimize your group then this is definitely the location to go to! I like the 2 location but I LOVE the 1 location much better. The vibe isn’t the same in 2 and the quality of food is better at location one. The same items are on both locations but try the black Jack, my all time favorite, at both locations and you’ll notice a difference.

It's okay, would recommend the all you can eat for the value. I eat here a couple of times a week for convenience only. On my last visit, I did not get what I ordered, they never apologized and never made an attempt to correct it. They gave me what they wanted me to eat. I'll think twice before I return next time.

Great all you can eat sushi in down town Austin. Huge selection of rolls, sushi and other items. Went for dinner the price was just at $40 with tax not including tip. Everything was very tasty and fresh. You have 90 minutes to eat what ever you want. The only downside for me was no shashimi on the dinner menu. Other than that it was great!

Above average sushi bar. Seating is extremely limited, but we were there on Friday at 6P and didn’t wait more than five mutes.I had a California roll and a salmon roll. Both were good. The cucumber salad was above average, but not remarkable.

One thing to know: the posted hours go until 10, but they won't seat you or place orders if you show up much past 9:15.Otherwise, the sushi is decent. I like the smaller rice portions on the nigiri so that the fish wraps around it. The AYCE deal is very reasonable, and fairly priced. Would eat here again.

I've come here for many years and I just realized I never left a review. Hands down I would give this place 5 or even 6 stars if it was possible. I don't think you can get a better meal for the set price of the all you can eat sushi! Everything is made to order. I highly recommend their tuna and salmon poke bowls and the cucumber passion roll! I will be sure to add photos once I go there again!

Because of the customer service. Terrible experience, we should have gone to Sushi Junai 2.We had a party of 5 waiting to be seated, and they told us the wait would be about 20-25 minutes, which is no problem. However, there were 2 tables open. We asked them if they could ask a table to move down to push them together, and we would even be willing to ask.The worker said he would ask, but then proceeded to ignore us and serve the others. We felt bad standing at the front of the store, and it was raining outside. There is no seating for customers to wait. The workers motioned towards us, laughed and scoffed in the back, then walked towards us with a “kind smile.” We will not be back.

Was in Austin visiting my daughter who attends UT ? and was looking for a good sushi place as that is our favorite. Amazingly enough stumbled across this gem. Great location and the best part, ALL YOU CAN EAT! I certainly paid for it with a nap afterwards, but would for sure do it again. A must visit imo.

Awesome places to go have sushi. Really yummy, tons of options and a very good price. Make sure to go with an empty stomach?
