Incredible experience!!After trying several vegan spots in Austin this place is a HUGE standout for all the best reasons. All of our food came out fast and with outstanding flavor! You have to try to fried banana peppers! The loaded fries, fried banana peppers, and burgers were amazing. Definitely coming back with family and friends many more times. They have 4.9 stars for a reason! This is a great restaurant experience that happens to be vegan.
I wish I could eat like this everyday! The Impossible burgers are to die for and the vibe is relaxed. If only I could give this place more stars!
Holy moly this place is legit!! Let me start off my saying I’m not a vegetarian/vegan, and I usually avoid vegan spots because I love meat too much, but my vegan friend suggested I try it and I’m so glad I did! I tried the loaded fries, bulgogi breakfast burrito and the Brussels sprout salad. All were incredible!! I’ve had soy-based proteins before and always felt impartial to them but I genuinely couldn’t tell that I wasn’t eating meat. In fact, I’d probably eat their bulgogi over a regular meat-based bulgogi any day! 10 outta 10, will go again! Pictured is the Brussels spout salad with the loaded fries in back.
This is hands down my favorite vegan place to eat in Austin! I have been waiting to post a review of this place so I can post pictures of the food. No joke, the food is so good that I always eat it before actually getting a picture. A picture of the food truck is the best I can do for right now. You will not be disappointed with anything you order on the menu. I highly recommend the Loaded Fries, Pub Pretzel, and Korean Bbq Wrap. All of these are so amazing! Great place to also get drinks and hang out with friends. They have a full bar!
I very rarely rate places highly but this place hits on all cylinders. The bar is everything you want for east Austin, cool low key vibes inside that stays accurate to the original bar here (I used to come to that place too, this place is a rare east side improvement); the best and booziest frozen drinks in Austin; great deals on drinks at happy hour, sweet outdoor patio that is under the trees (not just a parking lot with tables) and the bartenders are not attentive and nice. The food is also bomb; one of my favorite places to eat vegan in Austin, and that’s a very short list.
Great dog friendly outdoor patio that can seat a lot of groups with plenty of shade from the large trees. There's a good food truck that serves vegan food that is pretty darn good. Portions are large so I'd account for sharing unless you like some for later to take home. The drinks contain Texas beers and fancy cocktails. I'd recommend their happy hour or reverse happy hour if you want to save a few bucks.I like this place due to the unpretentious nature / chill vibe I get. The people are nice working there and super friendly. The only downside is we went when it was colder and they don't have patio heaters so bundle up if you are planning on going when it's cold.
I could go on and on about how amazing this place is. With their delicious vegan offerings, fun/tasty cocktails and out-of-this-world service, Sunny's fits fabulously into the Austin dining space. Although my partner and I are not vegan, we were truly delighted by how delicious our burger was.Their menu is evolving as they continue to focus on the guest, which is essential for any business to adapt and survive in a competitive place like Austin. Sunny's is a smart and delicious restaurant staffed by people who truly prioritize an excellent guest experience. Needless to say, I will be returning!!!!
TLDR: fantastic food, and vegan to boot. For the food, I had the Hot Stuff Baby, with crispy Banana Peppers and beer battered waffle fries. The Hot Stuff was exceptionally good, not even giving credit to it being vegan. The only complaint I have about it is it is *extraordinarily* messy. The waffle fries were well, waffle fries, so they were pretty darn good. The Fried Banana peppers were awesome as well. Different flavor than something like fried pickles, but not annoying hot like fried jalapeños.The atmosphere of the place is awesome. Cute and chill outdoor patio area. Service was fast, so nothing to really remark on there other than that.Overall, this place is great food regardless if you’re vegan or not. Certainly worth a stop.
Best vegan food in town, I am not vegan, I am not vegetarian… I tried many vegan options before but Sunny’s Backyard is the best! Drinks are very good and top notch service!!!
Sunny's Backyard is an amazing place to grab some really, really great vegan food (try the Aloha Lucy Burger)! Sunny's has a great atmosphere with a nice large outdoor space along with an indoor bar with a fun 70s vibe.
