Quickly become one of my favorite places in Austin. Incredible atmosphere nestled in a bit of nature while skyscrapers loom from the windows.
Moved to Austin from Hawaii and was looking to see if there was a Polynesian community here. If there is, they aren’t at this joint.Super chill vibe, but lots of “hipsters” (idk if that term is still used) and others looking to get smashed off kava. Common to hear “chug that mud water” among other phrases. Had a group of college students there to “experiment”. I wish they had some education materials on what kava is and what it does to your body. Not your usual substance to abuse.The kava tasted fine, it’s instant, but didn’t deliver the punch I’m used to. I use dried kava in a Tanoa so maybe I’m biased.The space is great. Lots of outdoor seating and a fire pit. Staff is cool but tend to mingle with the regulars instead of new comers.All in all, cool spot, nice layout, chill vibe,Instant kava, all you need for a good time but not my cup of proverbial tea.
We had SUCH a great time visiting here! We're from St.Pete FL, and loved the chill and welcoming atmosphere at SquareRüt. Jimmy the greeter dog showed us the way in, top tier customer service ? And Dylan gave us some awesome pointers on which strains we should try. The art, setup, seating, and all of the customers were so lovely. Thanks!
If I could give more stars I would! Visiting from FL with my sister and her gf. They're super into kava and they were so happy this place was there. I had hot tea. Very dope setting and comfy to be at. They really liked the Aolana (spelling?) The kava tender, Dylan, was so friendly and knew his stuff. It was a pleasure to have met him! Give him a raise and a bonus for sleeping there to keep it safe when the window got stuck open! Haha! The regulars (inc. Jimmy the dog) were chill and all of us humans had nice conversation :) Thanks again, Dylan! We'll be back if we're in Austin again!
This place is just the best. We’ve been a few times, and every time we go we seem to make a new friend. The people there are so pleasant to be around, and the kava seems to make everyone chiller & happier. We brought our dog Maxine with us, and the person working there was super nice and let her come up and sniff everyone. Highly highly recommend!
They didn’t notify that there’s only one size option for iced drinks. I said “small size” and she didn’t asked me back or double check. The place was nice but the service and the taste of coffee was disappointed (too watery).

Great place! Very relaxing vibe and pleasant atmosphere to work or chat with a friend. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. The Kava is the real deal. Highly recommend.
