Restaurant was noisy, hot, and filled with smoke. Appetizers were very good. Entrees were only good. Dessert was excellent. Overall, the meal was better than good; however, the lofty reputation is not earned. There may not be better Italian cuisine in Austin, but that bar isn’t too high.

Wonderful!

EVERYTHING was amazing! Service, food, drinks all 5 stars!

This was our first trip back to Red Ash since pre-pandemic. The food was excellent the Osso Buco was better than I remember it being in the past, the sauce was truly outstanding. Wish it was easier to get reservations.

First time there. Pleasant atmosphere. Great service from our waiter. Food was excellent.

I had heard great things about this restaurant and I was disappointed. The AC did not seem to be working well and we were uncomfortable with the temperature from the time we sat down. We asked to be moved and were told that the entire restaurant was the same temp. The overall timing of the service seemed out of sync but did improve as the night went on so I wondered if they were understaffed that night. The food did not Wow us like I had hoped and one dish we did send back. We were not charged for it but we had hoped it would be better overall. Having waited 2 months for this reservation we all left feeling disappointed. I will probably give the restaurant another chance someday - maybe it was just an off night?

Red Ash rings throughout Austin as a prime Italian destination for dinner and drinks. While clearly proud of their menu, it would serve them well to pay attention to the Nonna's before them and simplify some of the more ambitious pastas. The tagliolini with blue crab was outstanding, while the Agnolotti filling is something I'd rather forget. The oven/grill entrees were a bright spot, as the Osso Buco Veal was a dream, but its saffron risotto pairing seemed lost and ill-prepared for the experience it was shoved next to. The drinks were particularly friendly and arrived with haste (as did every part of our order - superb service!) with a spotlight on the Sabbia Bianca - a lovely mild, almost-sweet old-fashioned with a Mezcal undercover identity hiding beneath the Aperol overcoat. Overall, I think this menu deserves some revision and recalibration, but the service and atmosphere grab your arm with one hand and your drinks with the other for a perfectly fine dinner evening that was ultimately worth a week-in-advance reservation instead of the 7-8 that is the current norm.

Red Ash is delicious and absolutely worth the wait. Service was impeccable, while still maintaining a casual vibe.

Our favorite restaurant in Austin!

Steak was not blacked and crusted .
