Love this place. Staff not super friendly but straight foward and helpful. Im not a pho expert but their beef stock is delicious. Pretty good bahn mis also. Usually isnt to busy so its great for a quick bite in peace. Main drawback is they dont deliver ?
I've been eating here for over 20 years. I've never had pho as good as Pho Van's, any where else, ever. This is the standard by which all other pho should be judged. I've been coming since college, I now bring my kids, and they love it too. After the meal, head next door and grab a bubble tea, or head to the super market and grab a ramune marble soda.
This is easily one of our favorite lunch spots in Austin. It's hard to find a good Bahn mi sandwich (think pork, fresh herbs, hearty bread) and the won ton soup is sublime! We crave it often!
4.24.22 edit: drop from 4 star to 2 star due to cleanliness. Got a glass of water with a bunch of black spots on it. I rubbed my finger on it and the black spot smeared. It's either mold or grease. I asked for another cup and it was the same. I liked this place because it was always open, but they need to do what the other restaurants are doing and close one day to clean. My go to pho spot:fast serviceeasy parkinggood seating spaceconvenient operating hoursreasonably pricedGood pho
So I would like to say that I have eaten Pho all over the US. This place is clean and polite. The pho has none of the robust aroma of roast herbs. The flavor is pretty bland and the bowls are prep ahead of time. My noodle were over cooked when they came out but when I ordered extra. They came out very Al dente. I ordered a large but there was not enough noodles. I ended up having to order extra rice too. Which each ended up been $2.75 extra. I would have been fine with the price but it was not to my satisfaction. The iced coffee tasted a little off as well. I probably will never be going back here. So if you are hungry order two items recommended. Basic
The pho was decent. The beef plate was okay but a bit overpriced for what it was.
Five stars for the food. Staff was also great. Three because the restaurant appearance. They need to do some remodeling or massive cleanup. Order take out if that kind of stuff bothers you. The food will not disappoint you.
No frills, solid pho spot.. The staff was very nice and big on cleanliness and the owner walked around and spoke to his guests. I loved that! The broth was very good and the prices were fair for Austin. The large bowls are huge!!The beef bahn mi was very tasty too. Will definitely be back again..
Been looking for good Pho in town, and this place is the real deal. Broth is solid and the noodles are perfect and chewy. Wasn’t crazy about the spring roll, but not a huge deal. I’m glad we found a go-to spot.
I have been eating at this restaurant since 1996. They have the BEST Pho broth in the city. I prefer pho ga, chicken.Their spring rolls, egg rolls, and bun are also outstanding.
