Tried this place out because of the positive reviews. Really delicious food but a bit pricey, 38 dollars for a margarita and cheese enchiladas. Good place for tourists or people that have a bit more money to spend on Tex mex in Austin. The staff is very attentive and kind. The margaritas are pricey but very good overall (not overly sweet or artificial tasting). Just tasted like good tequila, lime and a little bit of sweetener. Very good if you're into margaritas. I recommend la flaca. The restaurant itself is very cute and vibey. I will probably come back here when my family is on vacation visiting me.

I lived in Austin for 17 years and never even heard of this place. I don't understand how! It's SO great! The atmosphere is wonderful, fun and creative. It was built in the 1800's and used to be a house. It's been converted to a restaurant, but there are multiple dimensions/parts to it. The main restaurant feels very house-like and has great decor. The outside patios are many - 3 different deck levels plus other outside niches with tables, decorated with lights in the BEAUTIFUL Live Oak trees, huge antique outdoor chandeliers and other nice atmosphere. The best is the inside bar (separate building) that seems to be the oldest part of Pelon's. Dark, OLD, old, and BEAUTIFUL with fun things added to it.The food was delicious, the service prompt, attentive (but not invasive), and very friendly. The owner of the restaurant stopped by personally to ask how our visit/food was.Definitely would go again and would bring out-of-town guests there!

The food is amazing, they had the BEST queso I’ve ever had. The margaritas are strong and delicious and anything with the shrimp is impeccable. We did have a snag with being waited on at first but it was remedied immediately and we got kind apologies from so many folks. Truly loved it. Highly recommend it!

Steak fajita is great. You know how most steak fajitas are dry like jerky? Not these. Marinated angus is amazing. Also, make sure you request a hand-made margarita, not one from the tap. Great staff!

We just had to check this place out. It was walking distance from the hotel and it was recommended by the front desk. Also when we got to our room we were able to see it from our view! It looks so cool in the distance and even more when you get there. It seems out of place and In place at the same time . I briefly spoke with the host and they said it was a old or historic building yet I was distracted by the food so I may be wrong. We started with the chips and queso and the chips were soooooooo dang good . They felt so fresh and the queso was super cheesy. I had the quesadillas that were just ????. The tacos were delicious as well and came with rice and refried beans that were ??? . All together it makes for a great spot, with the history ,the figurines , the art, nice staff, and great food too. Also the bar was packed the whole time so I’m sure they’re drinks are great also .

We ate and drank at this amazing restaurant a number of times during our stay in Austin. We'd highly recommend if you like tex mex food! We couldn't fault the food at all! Nachos and salsa was amazing, we'd love the recipe! Fajitas & quesadilla for lunch/dinner on both occasions, full of flavour, utterly faultless. Highly recommend 10/10!

Recommended this place by hotel. Out of centre and grittier area but food was excellent. Nice Margherita’s and quest with the tortillas initially. Group had various meals and all authentic and service was great.

Pelons is so great! I can't believe I've lived in Austin this long and haven't been until now! Not only is it really cute with a great patio with a giant tree, the food was really good! I don't generally love Tex Mex because it usually seems mediocre, with a giant slathering of refried beans and cheese. Pelons was impressive! My tacos were tasty, but I think when we come back I will get what my husband got, the Carnitas Enchiladas, which our server recommended. Our server was great, also. We will be coming back soon!

We stopped in for lunch waiting for our room to be made up. Good selection of lunch menu dishes as great prices. Margs are very strong and tasty

Would not recommend this restaurant. Had a reservation and got seated at a table on the patio with no shade or umbrella on a sunny, 90 degree day. When we asked to move to one of the several shaded EMPTY tables, the hostess explained that they were also reserved. Throughout the duration of our dinner, all of the shaded tables remained unoccupied. Make a reservation at your own risk. Food was average, waiter was friendly. Nothing special to recommend at Pelon's.
