this place was incredible - the menu is so cool. It’s truly Japanese Texas fusion, you can tell they put a lot of thought behind each dish. It’s almost like a create your own tasting menu kind of thing but pretty affordable. We had the rayfin jerky which was INCREDIBLY good, never would have expected that. Then the chicken & beef heart skewers - both were really tasty. The sauce that came with the chicken was wild, I could drink it straight. Finally we got the guaca poke and GOT DAM it was so good. The vibe inside was chill & very cool - we sat at the bar & our server was sick, he guided us through everything. Highly highly recommend!

My experience here was amazing!I came with a large group so we had a fixed tasting menu. This menu was so robust with an incredible fluctuation of all types of food across their menu. We got the full experience.I HIGHLY recommend the pesto edamame (best I have ever had). The next must is the make your own hand rolls - we had brisket and this flavor burst was out of this world good. The atmosphere here is also 10/10.I have recommended many people to go here and they have all came back saying it was better then they expected!

More accurately a Japanese fusion place. We got some good dishes and some more on the okay side. Overall the seasoning is very heavy but the proteins are cooked to perfection, especially for the skewers. The scallop skewer was the highlight of our meal.It is worth noting that now all of the seating is outdoors and it can get hot.

Excellent food and caring service. The king salmon was a standout, as were the corn ribs. Chili Cheese Takoyaki is great, just a bit heavy for a hot day. All in all, a great place.

Unique fusion cuisine, Tex-Mex with Japanese style representation, the divide is probably 80/20. The taste was overwhelmingly dominated by Tex-Mex flavors while utilizing many of the Japanese ingredients such as Edamame, Tacoyaki, Taiyaki, Bento Box and etc.We ordered Omakase with a full line up of items from small plates of appetizers to legitimately stomach-filling bento box moist briskets (Texas BBQ style). It always takes courage to fuse two distinctive cuisines and satisfy both sides. Kemuri Tatsu-ya certainly took a unique approach to focus on the taste in Tex-Mex, but presented with Japanese ingredients.Perhaps due to my inherent biases of how “sashimi, tacoyaki, or taiyaki” were supposed to taste like, the dishes served were beyond my spectrum on the tasting scale. They were delicious in its own way but I was not blown away by it.Service was courteous and friendly, food quantity was more than enough to fulfill any hungry stomach.Final verdict: an interesting place to try Tex-Mex fusion with decent food.

The place I bring people who are visiting the most

This place is a must visit! A beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. I wasn't sure what to expect from this fusion restaurant but it was a great experience. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful when we were trying to order. My dinner partner said this was the best brisket he's ever had in his life... And that's saying a lot.Unfortunately, I couldn't have it because it had almonds ?

We ate here our first night in Austin and enjoyed every bite. We weren't too sure what to expect with Japanese -TX BBQ fusion, but fear not, everything was tasty. We got the brisket and made it a bento box style and were not disappointed. As soon as the boxes came out, and then were unstacked, and the steam just billowed from inside carrying the delectable scent of what was too come. We appreciated the patience from our waiter explaining all sauces, tastes, and how to mix it all together. I highly recommend eating here.

Kemuri has been on my to try list for so long and I am really glad I finally tried it. The restaurant itself has a cool atmosphere with diverse seating in and outside. There is a parking lot and street parking. I tried a lot of different things but the quality of food was consistently superb. It was one of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever had. My favorite things were -Negi ma skewerHotate skewerChili cheese takoyakiSalmon crudoChicken in the nest skewerI had a few other things but these top them. The only downside is that on the reservation you couldn’t specify your seating and the alcoholic drinks had way too much ice in them, to the point where it seemed really watered down. The drink was tasty but I’ve had drinks at more expensive restaurants, that cost the same, that weren’t this watered down.

Excellent small plate style venue. Every dish was a winner. This is what we shared (3 of us) and I highly recommend: Edamame Verde Cornbread Taiyaki Hot Pocketz Kara-Age 2.0 (fried chicken thighs) Hotate (scallop) Brisket(by1/2lb.) Ribs Corn Ribs BeefyShrooms Puddin’onTheRitz (Banana Ice Box Cake) All of the above plus one drink cost $180 (including tip)
