My first time going to Kanji was last week and I am hooked. The Spicy Mi-so Ramen is too magnificent for words, broth was so full of amazing flavors. The shrimp tempura, so fresh and crispy. This is my new favorite place to eat out!
I am so glad my friends introduced me to this place, it is amazing! The dining room is nicely decorated and very clean. Most importantly, the food is phenomenal! I've tried a few ramen places in Austin, but this place is 100% my favorite. You can tell they care about what they put on a plate. I can't wait to go back!
We decided to try a different type of noodles for lunch and picked Kanji Ramen. The place requires customers to order and pay at the counter and then look for a table to sit (Just FYI). We ordered Chashu (Marinated braised pork belly) and Pork Gyoza (Pan-seared dumplings) as appetizers, and for the main dish, Kanji Ramen, which is their signature ramen in a creamy pork bone soup with soy sauce based seasoning. Every dish ordered had a very unique and rich flavor. Definitely a different experience in comparison to Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese noodles, but good in its own way.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. It wasn’t very busy when we came in, but the food was great. The broth isn’t overpoweringly salty but is still super flavorful. All of the different toppings on the signature ramen went well together.
Spicy miso is tasty. Signature ramen is also good except the soup is a little too salty and you can't really drink too much. Better than tatsuya ramen IMO.
Definitely the best Ramen we've tried in Austin. The spicy vegetarian one is superb. As another reviewer mentioned, you should check their hours on their website, or call ahead before going or ordering online (since it's a small business).
This review is long overdue!I have dined at Kanji Ramen almost three or four times since Q4 of last year. I haven't made myself out here since the start of the new year, but I do need to shed my experience dining here.First and foremost, the food here is high quality, fresh, and filling. If this is your first time here, and want to get a sense of whether this is the go-to place for ramen or not, then I recommend getting the Kanji Ramen - Our Signature Ramen. Its description on the menu truly sums up the journey your taste buds will embark on with the very first slurp of the creamy pork bone soup with soy sauce based seasoning. After having this I was hooked! As of now, I have tired their Spicy Mi-So Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, as well as Niku-Bun. All have been delicious.Customer service plays an integral role in shaping the dining experience for any customer. The service I got was fast and friendly. The food gets delivered hot from the kitchen. It's refreshing feel amplifies my respect for the care and love the hardworking kitchen team members are putting into each dish.I highly recommend for you to start your ramen journey here. This will set the bar for your future casual dining experience.Great job Kanji Ramen Team!
