Hostess with a withdrawn, starved look is definitely not a thing. She offered us everything I had requested to exclude and seemed somewhat irritable. That set the tone for rest of dinner experience. Thankfully waitress was great. Space between tables are adequate. Glasses plates and silverware are are clean. Keep in mind - If you ask for water, don't forget to ask for ice; it will arrive later in small plastic glasses. We ordered multiple small plates to mix and match. Half the dishes felt like deep fried or dark sauce Asian food served nicely. Noise level is very high - to be fair - this place is for younger crowd - loud, exuberant laughter etc. Food and ambience is possibly not the focus. Merits include easy to find last minute reservations, and it stays open till late, while most Austin goes to bed at 6:00 PM. Also it is at a Premium location in North Domain and parking is close by. I would conclude Joi is neither a great or not so great place - it's not what I look for.
Great service, Manager stopped by to make sure everything was good. Excited to come back and try the other items.
Honestly the service was not what I expected. We felt like the less priority table in the room. We had reservation and our table wasnât ready. We wait around 10 minutes after we sat to waitress to come by and offer some water (not even take the order). The manager pass near the table and I called him an he didnât seems to hear me (believe I have a loud voice). I saw him greeting some customers , saying hi to others and chatting in some tables , everyone looks like a âVIPâ costumers , except us . At least the food was tasty, but nothing out of this world . Hope they change a little the service so is more friendly

JOI offered delicious takes on classic dishes. My husband and I enjoyed everything we ate and drank and will definitely be back again.
Great ambiance but the noise level was loud. Food was good and timely served. Server was knowledgeable about the menu. Will be back!
The food was over salted, got three starts to start. The lobster tacos did not seem fresh, almost like itâs been sitting out. The sushi dish was just a lot... for no reason. I just wanted rolled sushi. Not to mix all the sauces together and make your own sushi taco. (Unimpressed) & the chicken dumplings was simply a waste. Didnât get boxes ended up leaving before we ordered the rib-eye. I will not becoming back... for any occasion. ð¥
