Very good BBQ and I’m from Houston which I feel is one of the BBQ capitals in Texas. The Mac and cheese was my favorite as it’s my favorite food on the planet, the Gouda just makes it pair well with everything. The sauce options were good. They sell out around 2 on weekends so get there early. Also the free beer while waiting in line was a bonus.
Went on a Wednesday around 11:30 and there was a small line out the door, which was a good sign of things to come. I ordered a slice of the brisket, a piece of the peach tea braised pork belly and the smoked lamb shoulder taco. The lamb taco was out of this world and by far my favorite of the three, but that said the brisket was moist with great flavor and rivals some of the best in Central Texas. Outside of the lamb I have to say the pork belly was the other star, some places just give you a lot of fat and the pork belly was meaty that just melted in your mouth. I finished things off with the Watermelon Juice, which paired perfectly on a hot afternoon. Be sure to head on over, the folks are friendly and the BBQ is out of this world good!
Great BBQ. They recently got a nod for top bbq in the Texas Monthly magazine so line wait times have increased. They will let you get a complimentary lone star beer while you wait in line since they have 1 individual cutting the meat for you. Everything is legit pulled lamb, brisket, pork belly, pork ribs, Gouda Mac and cheese. Ask if you get a chance for the burnt ends of the brisket. Smooth. A local lady that works at the 620 hair salon was really nice talking about what was good and how parking may be tough. Good place for BBQ VERY accommodating!!!
We tried everything including the barbacoa taco and everything was amazing! The wait was short even though there was about 25 people ahead of us. Staff was very friendly and let us know which options had gluten. Definitely will return!
The store is on the smaller side. Service is good. There’s free beer and flower for everyone to take while waiting in line. I would recommend peach tea infused pork belly. All of my friends love it. Pulled pork is quite salty. As for sides, smoked scalloped potato and tomato and zucchini salad are good. Tipsy turkey sold out pretty quick. I was interested in how it would taste. I found this place on the salty side.
We tried all the meats except the lamb. They were all great!!! The jalapeño sausage was the family favorite and the Gouda macaroni and cheese. The Mexican hot chocolate rice pudding was awesome also. The banana pudding was good but nothing spectacular.
#2 in Texas Monthly’s best bbq in TX — deservedly. Moist brisket, lamb shoulder, pork ribs all stellar. Mac and cheese, tomato salad, and scalloped potatoes great sides. Loved it.
Brisket, pork rib, lamb shoulder, PORK BELLY, potatoes, tomato salad - so much goodness. Long waits every day
Interstellar BBQ was rated one of the best BBQ joints in Texas for a reason. We got there early (10:15am), hung out, had a beer, and were the first in line come 11am for its open. Overall, the owner was an awesome guy, the pitmasters were great, and the food was unreal. Make sure to try the pork belly, turkey, and of course, the brisket. Highly recommend!
Great brisket and pulled lamb. Tomato and zucchini salad excellent also. Free beans and iced tea. Bland strip mall setting is the only minus
