I ordered momo and biryani from this restaurant, with some effort. The website wouldn't accept my credit card for some reason. They were kind enough to take my order over the phone, but had some communication difficulties and initially neglected one item from my order. The food I received was full of life, reminiscent of other South Asian cooking I've eaten before, but with sharp and vibrant flavors that I haven't previously experienced at Himalayan restaurants. I feel like I was experiencing the personal touch of a cook with a Himalayan palate cooking for his own community. It was great, interesting food. The only downside to the food was that the goat biryani had bone fragments mixed in with the rice. (Actual shards of bone, not just the bone you expect in the pieces of meat.) I personally didn't find this distressing, having been raised in an Asian food culture where having to spit out weird bits is normal. However, this was a great source of consternation for my poor Tex-Mex wife, and discouraged her from eating an otherwise delicious biryani. All in all, there were some wrinkles in my experience, but the people are good and the food is great.
Stay Away from ordering from this restaurant!1. Had diarrhea after eating food from here.2. Ordered Chowmein, but they gave me pasta with thick carrots and sauce. I know the difference and please don't cheat your customers.3. Ordered Chilli Chicken - Horrible fried chicken in ketchup sause. Reason for diarrhea, I think.4. Charged me 4% on top of my bill - said the Clover Card reader charges, not us. How come then all other restaurants don't put it on the customers.I'll never buy from here again.
Super authentic and made with love. The food here is absolutely tremendous I came in with absolutely no knowledge of Nepali or Indian food all I know is that I liked spicy food with lots of flavor. The mango Lassi is a 10 out of 10 I still wish I could sip out of the cup right now. We had a variety of a lot of stuff on their menu and I can genuinely say I'm not disappointed at all. The servers were very friendly they genuinely made me feel like I was at a home. Beautiful food. Well done! ?
Great little neighborhood spot. Very friendly staff and clean, welcoming environment. The food was excellent!
We were looking for an Indian type restaurant but NO buffet. I found Himalya Koshei might fill the bill for us for a Sunday afternoon lunch. There were 5 of us and everyone ordered something different. We order a kebab, lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken and lamb rogan josh along with a large basket of naan. Everyone liked their dishes although they were slightly on the spicy side but not over-powering. The quantity of food was about right. My only reason for not assigning 5 stars was after we ordered the different items came out at very different times. The tandoori chicken only came out after I went to the kitchen to find out where it was - the rest of us were about 1/2 finished before it came out. The kebab was also slow but not as slow. The lady bringing the food out spoke so softly we had an almost impossible time understanding her as to which dish was which. That said we did enjoy the lunch and I plan on returning.
Chilly momos are my favorite. Love the place and people. Great servicing.
Best veg steamed momo in Austin! Reminds of Indian street food, very authentic!
My experience:1) When we enter inside smells like a bleach. Limited workers. I saw only 2 people working on busy day. Order foods and they served after 40 mins.2) Food quantity is very less if we compare with price. Very high price but less quantity and bad customer service. Oily momos, curry smells like old oil. Sekuwa was good and tasty.3) Restroom smells very bad and dirty and stinks. They need to serve with affordable price if serving like this. Or work on cleaning and keep 2-3 waitress to serve the customers and serve in timely manner.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is the best Nepali spot in Austin, however relative to Nepali spots in India it's throughly mediocre.Chowmein had the correct flavor however the noodles were over cooked and weren't properly fried. The Gobi Manchurian tasted not like Gobi Manchurian I'm used to. Paneer chili tasted nothing like paneer chili. However they both tasted the same.Paneer momo was excellent, the best thing we ordered.ENORMOUS portions!
The food are awesome!! We finish all the food! Best nepali food i had so far! Will comeback again if we have a chance again to visit austin from houston!!
