This place is a fantastic bar! Halcyon has a wonderful selection of cocktails ? and snacks ?! Definitely go for the 4-person S'mores - it comes as a large board circular with Graham Crackers, Marshmallows, Hershey Chocolate ? Bars, and an open flame ? for you to roast everything together! Ambience ? is great, service is quick, and staff ?? is super friendly and welcoming! I wish I came here more often!
I've been visiting Halcyon since 1992 and have seen it through some good times and some bad. ... We're practically married! I know the pandemic has been rough on businesses and I try to tell myself that everyone is doing their best. I feel like the latest crew behind the bar is doing a little better than the last group in terms of keeping up with orders and the quality of drinks. All the same, I have to say that the drinks still take much longer than they have in the past 20 years. The consistency of drinks is also absent; I've gotten 4 different versions of the same drink over the past couple of months. Maybe it's a lack of focus, or maybe the staff are still learning the ropes. I don't think people will stop visiting Halcyon - it's a great place to people watch. I do hope that the service gradually gets back to where it once was. I'm gonna try and stick this out with you, Halcyon... You can do this!
Whether you want a place to quietly work, nosh on some delicious bites, caffeinate or initiate yourself, you can't go wrong at Halcyon. Friendly staff and great people watching in the 4th street district.
Love the atmosphere very open and inviting ?
If you are looking for a pick me up and want a coffee infused alcoholic drink, go here. They had an amazing variety. Also they smelled like a donut shop, so bonus points.
We checked the menu online and saw there were a few desserts on the menu and wanted to try some of their drinks. But the dessert menu online was not correct. Cool place tho.
Worst carrot cake ever, it tasted like it was in a cartoon box for weeks. Cappuccino was ok, however the ambiance was pleasant. Good place to socialize.
My friend and I arrived Austin on Christmas Eve. Most of the places were closed. We were happy to find this place to have a quick bite since it was almost 3pm and we only had breakfast. The staff was nice and pleasant and gave us some good tips about bars on the same street. I had a spicy chicken sandwich and my friend had a mac and cheese. The food was okay but it stopped our hunger so that we can plan for the rest of the day.
Cool and cozy coffee bar, the people who work here are so nice and inviting. We had the s’mores and the chai latte. Everything came out great and I’ll definitely be recommending this place to friends or family that might find themselves here in Austin. Just please be careful when sitting down on some of their chairs, very flimsy and some are coming apart
9 dollars for a coffee and muffin is outrageous
