I’ve loved Habesha for years. I was first introduced to Ethiopian food in Washington, D.C. which I’m told is considered the best and most authentic Ethiopian food outside of Ethiopia. In my opinion, Habesha comes the closest to the Ethiopian food I was accustomed to in D.C.I’m an omnivore but I almost always get the vegetarian sampler. It is so hearty and full of flavor and SUBSTANTIAL! My family is full of big appetites and we are never able to finish the whole thing. We will always go back for this predictably affordable, satisfying meal.

Service is excellent!!!!Management and Staff are on pointShout out to Yidne, the ownerShout out to Nana (nah-nah), our waitressGet the honey wine and take a bottle homeI’m not a vegetarian but the vegetarian sampler is one of my favoritesThe lamb is everythingIf u want savory, spicy, aromatic—come here!!!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! This is my go to place when I’m craving Ethiopian cuisine. The flavors are rich, spicy, and savory. If you’re not sure where to start, I’d recommend going with the “Habesha Veggie Combo” (I’m plant-based, but they have meat combos too) The combos allowed me to sample a little of everything and honestly, it was all delicious. The standouts: hummus, Misir Wot (spicy lentil stew), Shiro Wot (roasted chickpea stew), and Gomen (sautéed collard greens). I also appreciate that they feature gluten free injera should you have a gluten allergy or wish to eat gluten free. I’ve ordered take out twice and dine in once and I prefer dine in so that the food is still hot and steamy! Either way, definitely a must try! This place feels like a community gem and must be protected. Everyone here is so kind and welcoming. I appreciate this cultural moment happening right here in Austin.

Saw this place from the highway so many times and really regret not giving it a visit sooner.Came in on New Year's Eve as a party of two and felt fortunate that it wasn't too busy - we sat down right away and the server helpfully recommended a beer based on our preference as well as a lamb dish since we wanted lamb on top of a vegetarian sampler as well as a meat sampler. The recommended lamb dish ended up being our favorite but not overshadowed by the great vegetarian and meat options. Everything was incredibly flavorful, satisfying, and just left us feeling great afterwards.I've had Ethiopian many times before from friends who worked in the industry, also in LA, DC... can easily say this place is impressive and I will be definitely coming back. I want to try the lunch buffet next!

Authentic, flavorful Ethiopian food at reasonable prices. We ordered the vegetarian sampler many times as takeout throughout the pandemic and so excited to dine-in! They were able to make the Foul vegan (it comes with French bread rather than traditional injera and our server was very attentive. A nicer interior than the exterior.

Great experience!Went there with one of my Ethiopian friends and I’m glad he introduced to me this place and Ethiopian dishes.Would recommend anyone to go visit this place and try their food. I would suggest trying their veg/meat platter so you could experience a little bit of all different kinds.Would surely be stopping by when in Austin.

Amazing culinary experience. If you've never had Ethiopian food before, this is probably one of the best places to go. Authentic and flavorful.Definitely try the Tej, Ethiopian honey wine

The food was super flavorful! It had been years since I had Ethiopian food and this place made my Ethiopian food experience a good one. Only thing I wished that I did was to order the combination plate option. My food was a bit spicy but it was super delicious!

The only complaint? I don’t have an infinite supply of this place. It’s the best!
