We stopped in for lunch on the weekend and got in right away. The place continued to get crowded so later arrivals appeared to have to wait a bit to get a table. The chips and dips were very good and we both had good meals of pick your own tacos and enchiladas. The help yourself bars with extra pico and other sauces was very nice. I was disappointed in the house margaritas so I would be specific in what you order. The outdoor weekend shopping in the area around the restaurant was also a plus for walking around after we ate.

Was in the area and went for happy hour. The house margaritas are $5 during happy hour. Jalapeño margarita was okay not very spicy. Complimentary chips and salsa flight was great most places don’t offer this anymore. Al pastor taco and tamale were both great and very fairly priced. Staff were changing shifts so everyone at the bar was rushed to order food and/ or pay their tabs. As an industry person I’ve never experienced this especially in the middle of happy hour kind of felt abandoned and wasn’t sure if I’d get the food I was rushed to order since the bartenders shift was over and left. Probably get better service at a table.

The meat was honestly very good and I personally was very surprised. There are a lot of Tex-Mex restaurants where they do not compare to home or authentic Mexican good. I totally recommend their quesadillas with meat of your choice. The only thing that was lacking in taste/season was their tacos Al Pastor. The best thing about those tacos was the juicy pineapple! During the weekend it was very popular and pack so prepared to be patient!

You must know what you get when you go into a tourist-area restaurant. But, even then, we were greatly underwhelmed.First, the dance music (this is a Mexican restaurant, isn’t it?) was way too loud. We could not carry on any level of conversation at our table.Second, the table was absolutely filthy. Crusted food in the cracks and sticky on the top. The expanded leaves drooped so much, I was afraid my plate was going to slip down onto my lap.Third, the world’s smallest margarita. Served in a 6 oz tumbler. Aside from the ice, only about 2-3 oz of actual drink.I ordered Dinner #1, a combo plate. While the carne asada was not terrible (lacked any degree of smokiness), the enchilada had only about a teaspoon and a half of rojo sauce over a very dry corn tortilla. The “charro” beans were nothing more than plain ol’ pinto beans. Our server could not have care less about us, either. We were neither rude or disruptive, either. We genuinely enjoy dining out (as you can tell from my many reviews), but I’m not shy about telling it like it is.And Guerro’s just isn’t it.

We stopped in here on a weeknight for dinner after a long day and although it was pretty crowded we got seated right away. The service was good. I ordered the steak tacos and the best part was the customer is able to order their own fillings. They were so delicious. My husband ordered a steak burrito and it was also delicious. The rice and beans were just average, nothing to rave about unlike our main dishes.

Great lunch at Guero's! Loved the tacos and salsa bar. Lots of indoor seating and cool garden bar/patio for scheduled live bands. Located centrally on South Congress Street. Would go back!

I just visited this super fun taco bar because the front bar was so unique with old worn heavy board flooring and the walls were covered with an eclectic compilation of old pictures of Mexican culture and plants and western everything else. I saw the Mauro Plato dish on the menu and was very interested in this very cheesy looking meal. It looked fantastic and it was beyond delicious. It comes with a choice of meat. I chose chicken. Service was speedy and friendly.

The appetizers were very good the guacamole was fresh and flavorful the queso fundido with chorizo was delicious too. Now for the tacos…. We’ll they needed more flavor and the chicken taco was dry. The Al pastor was like I have never seen before. The taste was really off. The fish was very bland . I wasn’t impressed. I’d go back for the apps and drinks.

Awesome!! Ambience was good. Food and drink were excellent. Must dine experience if you visit Austin. The restaurant is clean and staff are friendly. Lot of history to this place.

We love Mexican Food, but unfortunately, Guero’s was lacking in flavor (everything was bland except the guacamole) & prices were super expensive. The margaritas were small & had no flavor (they tasted like tequila & water). On the upside they do have a Gluten Free menu & asked if this was due to an allergy. All that said to say I have had much better food (& much more flavorful) from a food truck & at much better prices.
