We recently visited the French Quarter Grill after a number of months away. We will NOT let that much time pass again before our next visit. Scott and his team always find a way to make you feel special. They have expanded the menu since our last visit and I personally find the additions to be welcome as I am not much of a fish eater. When our first choice for wine for the evening was out of stock, Scott stopped by with a recommended replacement that he assured us would be as good or better than the original selection. This has happened once or twice before over the years and he has NEVER steered us in the wrong direction. We had a beautiful wine we had never experienced and it was wonderful. All the food came quickly from the back of the house and was marvelous. Leah (sp?) did a wonderful job of taking care of our somewhat boisterous group. They WILL have the chance to see us again in the near future. We are so glad they expanded the restaurant and weathered the ugly days of COVID shutdowns. See you again soon.
Delicious meal enjoyed in a very nice bar setting perfect for solo diners. Friendly bartender & service. The gumbo excellent and filling, the beef & shrimp cheese tortellini was delicious and chocolate crème raspberry brûlée phenomenal! The restaurant is cozy upscale and appears perfect for a business party or romantic meal. So many wines to choose from as well as a full bar.
If you enjoy Cajun style and New Orleans inspired food, this is my top pick by far.Their food is seriously superb, I mean in every way from the greeting to the service to the presentation to the perfectly prepared, seasoned garnished and cooked food. It's incredible. My first time here I had the escargot ? and the tilapia almondine and my friend had the ribeye. ? Perfectly cooked of course and the meat didn't need anything it was so well cooked and seasoned. The escargot is the best I have ever had, ever, even over my experience in both Italy and France. The sauce alone,... The sauce is worthy of dipping and a buttery mouth watering melt in your mouth kind of food gasm. The second visit I had the filet filet mignon ? (pictured)(And the escargot again of course) ? which was still just as amazing, and then my friend had the blackened catfish Ponchartrain with the mushroom brandy sauce which was also mouth watering and simply addicting.?Then ended with the bread pudding dessert in the rum sauce with ice cream. I had to physically cut myself off it was so damn delicious. ?Not to even mention the red beans and rice, I don't think they can be made any better than they make it here. ?Each time it just keeps getting better and better here, consistently in every way.Friendly and professional and detailed service ✅Authentic Cajun cuisine ✅Absolutely incredible food ✅Impressive wine list ? ✅You can't beat it here if you enjoy great service, love food, especially that is Cajun influenced. ?This is honestly the best Cajun style food that I have had since I've been in Austin, and that says quite a lot, I grew up near the La border.Very Highly recommend it here,? you will not be disappointed.
The food here tastes great and authentic. They do have a special dish of the day that is not on the menu. If the server suggest the special dish of the day, please make sure that you ask how much the dish is. The quantity size of the dish may not add up to the cost of this special dish.I failed to ask and I was not told up front and was surprised at the $36 costs for a dish that was smaller than my my wife's $16 plate. We paid for our food, tipped the waitress and I learned a valuable lesson. Regardless of how good the food sounds when the server describes it, Never agree to the special dish without knowing the cost of front.
Wow!! We can’t believe we’ve never left a review here before! This is our go-to for special evenings. The staff is amazing & the food is the best Cajun in town. We love the Shrimp Yoli appetizer. I almost always get the Catfish Yoli or the Redfish Ponchetrain. Hubby just discovered the chicken & pesto tortellini and it’s his new favorite.
The food was good, and the atmosphere was cozy!
Had a friends birthday celebration here. I'm from south Louisiana. It can be hard to please a fellow Cajun when it comes to food. This place is legit. I got the crawfish ettoufee and it was delicious. My husband got a steak with a red wine reduction and again it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. I will defintely return, probably with my Mom because she needs to try the food too.
Food was outstanding. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but has a really cool vibe as soon as you walk in. All 4 entrees my party ordered were each spectacular. If you can only try 1 dish, get the stuffed catfish. You won’t regret it. Will be back to try more.
What a pleasant surprise! Attentive service and quiet atmosphere. Food was authentic and delicious.
I hadn't been here in some time but this is really a great restaurant. We had a slight wait at lunch but not long. The waitress was awesome and the owner was very attentive and friendly. We had an awesome time and I look forward to sharing this gem with my family and friends. Every dish was delicious!
