Bland, dry, and not authentic. I'm from SWLA and this is easily some of the worst Cajun food I've ever had. Every dish was bad, and only the pistolette was worth it. How is your batter flaking off your fried fish? Why is the cornbread rubbery? How is there so little seasoning on everything? This is my second time here, because I believe in second chances! Really not good. I'm sad.
I have been to this restaurant many times in my life, and the review I'm giving has nothing to do with the quality of the food, which is excellent, this is a review of the service.Took my family there to eat tonight, the entirety of our stay was an hour and a half. In the multiple times I inquired about our food, not only did our waitress seem dismissive of my concern, but never once apologized. Even when our food arrived, there was never even an apology for the wait.I've been to restaurants before where I've had to wait longer for my food, but I've always had somebody coming by to check on me, offer dinner rolls, something just to show that they were sorry about the wait. It'll be a while before I go back there.
Absolutely amazing! We had the gator bites, never having gator anything before, and they did not disappoint. Gator bites alone were a 10 out of 10 but with the sauce on top took it to the next level. And then just when I thought I had the best thing on the menu, I had the Gold Band Fettucine and realized the party in my mouth had just started. Absolutely incredible! All of that with the total feel of being in New Orleans makes this a must-stop ?
We went here to try a local place when we were visiting in the area. My wife and I both ordered fried shrimp with a couple of sides each. The server repeated the order back as "one catfish and one shrimp" and my wife corrected her that we BOTH wanted shrimp and she then repeated the order back correctly. When the food arrived, we both took a couple of bites of our heavily cornmeal-battered shrimp and were thinking "this is really strange shrimp" when my wife said, "this is CATFISH!" We called our server over and she looked at us like we were crazy and she didn't believe that we had really ORDERED shrimp. She offered to bring new shrimp plates. My wife decided to keep hers since she likes catfish. My shrimp came in a few minutes. The server was friendly... just seemed not to be able to keep a simply order straight. The food was average or below in my opinion. Nothing special about the shrimp or catfish.
Neighborhood restaurant with personality. We had the shrimp creole and crawfish etouffée. It was good but not remarkable.
This review is for their poboys. We used to eat them at least 3 times a month but they have gone so far downhill lately. Sloppily made and lacking ingredients. Thought we’d give it another chance and This was the better half of my crawfish poboy. Chewy tough bread, dry with little to no Mayo, and maybe half the crawfish. Not Good. Great alligator bites though.
I had their gold ____ creole, it was delicious. I don't know what authentic Cajun is so can't say for that part but I can tell you that the food is delicious. Will be going back soon. Definitely a different indoor environment than other Austin places.
My husband and I had the shrimp po boy lunch special. I had the fries and he had the red beans and rice. The sandwiches were very good, although they could have had a few more shrimp on them. The beans and rice was tasty with just enough spice. The fries were pretty average. The beer selection was limited. Our total bill, including alcohol, was under $30. Overall, a great dining experience.
The fried pickles were horrible and should of asked to take off my tab. I had 5 grilled small shrimp and fries. I went in hungry and left hungry. Too bad I thought it would of been better especially being from Louisiana. I ordered the wrong food.
2 co-workers and I were recommended this restaurant. After looking at the positive reviews, we all decided to. I ordered a jambalaya and gumbo and it was very disappointing. The Jambalaya tasted like rice with tomato sauce almost like ketchup. The roux for the gumbo tasted burnt. My coworkers were equally disappointed in their dishes. We decided never to return and wondered what the positive raves were about.
