I am always amazed by the delicious and creative ingredients that they put together in each dish. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and attentive. The food at Emmer & Rye is truly inspired.
We made the mistake of eating outside. Reservation was at 6:15 and other than 3 fans mounted on columns in the outdoor area - it was too hot. If a patio is going to be open with our current heat wave intact then special provisions need to be made to keep it cool. Misters, outdoor A/C blowers of some kind, more fans. The food was good to very good but we were miserable sitting outside and ruined the experience for us.
I took my wife here for her birthday last night. She had been wanting to go for years. The staff are very friendly, very energetic about their food, and their farm-to-table mission. The food was good, but definitely did not blow me away. Portions are very small for the price, albeit the quality of food is obviously what drives the prices. The only thing I was really disappointed in was they gave us 5 oz wine pours for $20 per glass. A standard pour is 6 oz and frankly that is stingy. I merely asked about this to the server and he apologized and gave us a little more. Between the two of us (who are not gluttons by any stretch), 2 drinks each and one desert, it was $240 plus tip so about $280, which is a very pricey meal for me.
Some of the food was amazing and some was meh. The cacio e Pepe is made with Swiss cheese and tastes more like an adult Mac n cheese. Chicken was over cooked. Bread was incredible and so was the crudo. Cucumber side dish was okay.
Amazing as usual. I highly recommend the tasting menu â youâll always try something new! Our waiter Alex is great! Heâs my server every time I go to Emmer and Rye. He has a great understanding of the ingredients and work that go into each dish. Iâd recommend sitting at the chefâs counter to see all of the cooking and preparation.
Delicious and I enjoyed the app
Very Popular, very busy, high price point. The service was disturbingly subpar. After waiting 10 minutes to be greeted at the table (just the two of us), a service person (not a waiter) asked if we had our drink order taken. When we said no, and we wanted to decide our food first, he left. Others who were seated after us had been served food and drinks. When our waiter appeared, they gave no introduction to their menu options; mystery tasting menu ($120 off-menu/$80 wine parings per person) or a la carte. They wanted our order. When we asked questions, they were unable to describe their menu or items on the a la carte menu and left the table to "give us more time to look at the menu." So we were on our own. At this point, we were about to leave. We did flag down the sommelier from another table, and he became our waiter. Totally explained their approach and ingredients and how their menu was organized. He helped us choose menu items and pair glasses of wine. The food and wine were good and well-curated. Courses arrived before we were half finished with the previous course. For the price point of this restaurant, the experience was very subpar. I hesitate returning if this is the normal expectation for their dining experience.
Incredible Service and very close attention to detail. Great Place!
For our first date, they made the night so special. I asked for the best seat in the house and they put us at the chefâs table. The hospitality was unmatched and the food was amazing! Would definitely suggest this to everyone as a must visit while in Austin.
My wife and I sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen and did the 12 course tasting menu. It was an awesome experience. Several chefs presented their creations and talked about the ingredients. Everything was so fresh and full of flavor. The service was outstanding as well. Nick and Mike and the rest of the team took great care of us. We definitely recommend going!!
