You can enjoy a good taste of El Paso style food while at El Perrito ATX! They have the classic styled chicos tacos + a selection of other foods like quesadillas, and a personal favorite - flautas. This is the closest it gets to getting border style Mexican food without having to leave central TX. An absolute treasure! Your family and/or friends are in for a treat that won’t disappoint.
This is another stop on the "Texas Bucket List". So far, hands down, the best yet!West Texas gal been missing that flavor for 30+ years. They were slammed and we had to wait for about 30 minutes for our food. SO WORTH THE WAIT!Thank you so much guys for bringing West Texas food to Austin. We will be back!
I heard about El Perrito from a co-worker who worked with me back in El Paso. After showing my spouse the menu, it was an easy decision to take her and my mother-in-law there for Mother’s Day, but we did it on Saturday. While El Perrito is a food truck, they are building out a location, so we got to sit inside with air conditioning. My spouse and mother-in-law were born and raised in El Paso, and I lived there for 18 years, so we are well aware of that other local place. All three of us got singles, oops ELP Tacos. My spouse and mother-in-law also got the ELP Doggie, which they said was better than the original. I had the Dogstin, which was a bacon wrapped hot dog with choriqueso. We shared the ELP Fries. We agreed that everything tasted great and reminded us of El Paso. This will be a place we visit again and again.
I moved to Austin from El Paso about 5 years ago and I can honestly say this is the most authentic Mexican food I’ve tried so far. 10/10 would recommend.
Saw a post on reddit/austinfood that asked where the author could get Dorados style tacos in ATX. Long story short, my tia, Auntie Beth from West Texas (Sha's mom), makes them fresh and they are killer. Dorados style tacos are golden (crispy) tacos that have been lightly fried, and are topped simply with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and some pico or salsa . El Perrito's were a dead ringer for Auntie Beth's tacos. They were awesome and I will be going back. The crispy tacos are a da bomb!
Your heart will be happy if you need a tiny piece of El Paso. Soo yummy - I took the extra sauce home!
I’m not from El Paso but my gf brought me here and I’m in love. Had the drowned tacos and I made some inappropriate noises while eating.

Menudo was the best I have had in Austin area. Rolled tacos in sauce were delicious, definitely recommend.
I was there two days ago. it is very delicious. reminded me of El Paso!
