I’ve been coming to this Austin institution for decades and believe the burger to be one of the seminal burgers of America. The experience of drinking a beer on the deck fosters communication and fellowship. I’ve enjoyed interactions with all the crusty bartenders over the years and received many a delicious insult. But Micki, who I’d never met until today, brought a level of brightness and hospitality to this place that caused me to renew my vows of fidelity. Thank you, Micki.
Great beer bar. Beer only, great felt dartboards. Cheap and delicious burgers. Overall fantastic place. One downside is the men's bathroom is awful, I've heard the women's is ok.
Excellent local college bar, great craft beer selection and good food. Bartending staff was awesome and the atmosphere was really cool. Highly recommended.
An Austin institution with good casual/bar style burgers. Good beer selection with nightly beer specials. Love the different demographics - a mix of college students, professors, neighbors, and old Austin natives or UT alum feeling nostalgic.
Crown is my go-to neighborhood pub. Super friendly staff, solid beer selection, daily specials, and the food never disappoints. If you are looking for a low-key unassuming place to kick back a few with friends, look no further!
Aaaaahhhhh what better way to celebrate that you didn't fail the class than going to c&a? Been going here for a couple of times, started in college but been going more lately. Throwing darts w friends (even if you have no idea what you are doing), chatting while sitting in one of their many spacious long tables (sits 8-10 people)... Great place to chillBeer is good and fairly priced
This tavern style sports bar has great burgers and fries to die for!It is unique in that you can enjoy an indoor environment, an open-air covered patio, or a semi-shaded out door patio.This is the place for any mood or weather swing you're feeling.
Tried based on a friend's recommendation and was not disappointed. Solid tap wall and great burger and fries. Patio was dog friendly which was an added bonus. French Fries were amazing - I think they are double fried? Super crispy on outside and a little soft in the middle. Highly recommend.
I went to school at the University of Texas in 1990. I was there for the duration until I graduated. It has never changed from what it was back in the day. It was so wonderful to see the crowd on a Friday afternoon, enjoying the weather and consuming wonderful pictures of exotic beer. Way before there were any such things as microbreweries in Texas, there was the Crown and Anchor pub which was famous for their all glass pictures of Western European beers. It was always the greatest thing to go over there and listen to music in the jukebox and throw darts and drink great beers. I never ever had a dull moment there. Fast forward to 2022 and I went to go visit it with a guy I swam with at the exact same time at the University of Texas. We both relished in our past experiences and how we had grown so much older than the crowd there. If I go back to Austin in the future I will definitely go and visit the Crown and Anchor pub. You cannot ever go wrong.
