I like both Chen’s and Julie’s, but not to the extent that I’d give 5 stars.Contrary to most of the comments, their noodle is actually not 100% hand pulled. They do use handmade dough which contributes to great flavor and texture, but you can see their kitchen has the machine to slice the noodles, therefore not hand pulled. That’s OK. The noodles are still better than 90% of Austin Chinese or Asian fusion restaurants’. I’ve have spicy lamb several times and fried black bean noodles.Spicy lamb tasted great because of the noodle and spice, but the flavor indeed did not clinch to the noodle very much.Fried black bean paste noodle never had its black bean paste fried like the traditional northern Chinese style. It’s more like a Korean-style black bean noodle.

We came here and ordered the “spicy” lamb noodle dish and the pork stir fried noodle dish. The peppers used for the lamb were mala peppers (not spicy more like tongue numbing). The noodles appear to be handmade. The thickness and texture were great. The review is the same for both dishes. The flavors never penetrated nor did they ever cling to the noodles. The meat and vegetable portions were so sparsely tossed into the dish that we wondered if a famine affected north Austin recently. What bits of meat and vegetables we could find and taste were satisfactory.

Great noodles made in house.Other than serving the dish, everything else is self service. You’ll have to pour yourself water, grab utensils and return finished dishes to a designated area. There is ample parking.

Chen’s Noodle House- if you are looking for authentic Chinese food, this is the place to go! This small restaurant off Spicewood Springs in N Austin is so good! I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup (#19 on the menu) and was impressed. You know you are getting the good stuff when the menu is in Chinese and there are Chinese-speaking individuals eating there with you. I will definitely be back!

Best Noodle House in Austin! Don't listen to these dorks complain about the service as this place isn't fine dining. The pricing is affordable and I highly recommend the onion pancake & the pork leek noodles! This is a place with no fluff as you pay, sit & eat. Nice & simple with no gimmicks and amazing noodle dishes. If you want entertainment this isn't the place for you.

Had the beef noodle soup and the pork and leek! Sooo good and so much food. Very happy to find fresh handmade noodles in the area.

Nice noodle spot. The menu was way too big for us to proper sampler of the menu, but the wonton soup was a hit with my daughter, and I enjoyed the spicy lamb noodles. I honestly think we missed the boat, though. The spicy meat sandwiches they were slinging out by the trayful looked and smelled amazing. We're going back to get a couple of those asap.

Foods are good, but a bit overpriced. Not a lot of options. They have stopped selling somethings that appear on the menu.

My absolute favorite pan fried dumplings $12. Huge portions and delicious!

We've been customers here for years already never had a bad experience. Best dumplings I've ever tried! Tried many different places always go back to Chen's. Combination soup its delicious. Great customer service!
