Let me preface this by saying that I have had Indian food from top restaurants all over the world.... But in the end I would have to say my favorite Indian food by far comes from Bombay Bistro. The menu consists of mostly very traditional standards of Indian cuisine, without endless reinventions or adaptations of other dishes. I think that is what makes this place special. They are focused on taking the classics and perfecting them, rather than inventing new dishes inspired by Indian flavors like so many other restaurants in Austin. I live up north in Liberty Hill and will drive all the way down just for pickup. Almost every dish on the menu is well worth the drive.

This place has absolutely the best Indian food anywhere outside India and London. Their garlic bread is soft, hot and heavily buttered with garlic. Yum.

Extreme rude and bad behavior by the owner of this restaurant. He screamed at me in-front of everyone just for asking a To-Go box.First, outside temperature was around 90F and Air-Conditioning was not working. Restrooms were not clean. Apart from that bill was brought to us long before we finished.Secondly, he scared my 2-year old child by questioning for messing up the table, little mess-up is quite expected from any toddler.I was completely shocked when he yelled at me for To-go-box and I couldn’t even react. I quietly left the place as soon as I can and shall never visit this place again. This place truly deserves a zero rating for insulting and yelling at the customer.

This is THE BEST Indian Food in Austin Texas. The flavor, the spice, and the quality of the food has always been on point.I have tried elsewhere in Austin and Bombay is by far the best Indian food.On top of how great the food is, the customer service has been exceptional. There is only one location now but I am glad they are still in business. Please do yourself a favor and try it. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I have been fans of Bombay Bistro for several years now. The food we’ve ordered has been consistently flavorful, delicious, spiced well, and served hot. We’ve always had great experiences with the staff / management - servers have always been attentive and professional. We highly recommend Bombay Bistro!

I’ve enjoyed coming to Bombay Bistro for years and until today was a loyal customer. After our family realized that our delivery order was about 20 minutes late through Door Dash we contacted the restaurant. The employee that picked up the phone was incredibly rude, in a massive hurry and after finding the order and realizing that they did not enter it in he immediately said “he was entering it in now..” When we asked why it was being entered in now he immediately became frustrated and said “do you want the order or not”? After asking more questions about what had happened, his story eventually changed to that he had mistakenly turned away the door dash driver.Mistakes happen, not the end of the world. Treating your customers like they are not worth your time, especially when you’re the one in error, is terrible business.

Not happy with my first visit to this restaurant today. First the glasses they served were not clean…smeared with lipstick…next they would forget to bring one out of three things that we ordered(aloo parantha). And lastly when we pointed out that there is no salt in the aloo parantha( which was more of aloo kulcha that too filled with ginger!!!) the manager comes and says salt is there… it is just not loaded with it…. Really shocked to hear this. When we did not complain about the other dishes and only pointed out the issue with this parantha…we found the response that he gave as too rude!!!Probably the manager/owner whoever that is need to learn to serve customers!!!

Ordered takeout here - the Paneer Makhni tasted like Campbell's tomato soup and the paneer was so rubbery I could hear myself chew. The lamb curry had much better flavor but the meat chunks were mostly bone.

OMG !! This place is dirty. As you enter the restaurant, you see very dim lighting. The carpet is actually sticky and flighthy to the point that your shoe will stick to it.The bathrooms were such a mess as no one cleaned them in ages.FoodThere food is also not so great. I ordered "Shabnam curry" which is mushroom, it came out all watery mushrooms. Complained to the owner he went inside shouting on the chef "Add more tarka in it".Garlic nan was fresh and good - only because of this giving them 2 stars otherwise 1

Great Indian food in a very nice and spotless restaurant. Their buffet is great. They also have a marvelous vegetarian sampler that feeds 2 nicely and is very reasonable. Exceptional service is why I give them 5 stars instead of 4. I've eaten there several times and it's consistently great. Best Indian restaurant in Austin in my opinion (I've been to just about all of them).
