We went to have a handle full of drinks with a couple of friends. It was warm in the sun, but gold in the shade in the back patio. The bar needs a little TLC with physical interior appearance, and the bathrooms are a little grody, and the customers a little on the gritty side. Our bartender was very customer-service oriented and attentive during the busy happy hour--which is pretty good. The best part are the delicious "trashy" hamburgers--they were quite good! The ambience and cleanliness needs improvement, but a great place to eat and drink inexpensively.
I love this place! It is my home away from home, I couldn't ask for a better group of bartenders/people in general. They're friendly, funny, great drinks and amazing food! Thank you for being a staple in the south Austin community. Here's to Bender and the many more years to come!
Great place to unwind and relax. Staff is super friendly and the drinks are perfect! Beer is cold and the liquor is poured like it should be. Food is great and the menu changes with surprise specials on both drinks and food. I will be back for sure. This is my go to spot to relax with friends.
I’ve come into bender a million times with my dog rocky, and I have only come across Lloyd one other having rocky on me, and we had the conversation of rocky being a service dog, which ended the conversation of coarse. This guy must have memory loss because on the second time meeting him, he flipped out on me saying that I was putting his job at risk and started swearing at me in front of customers. If I were them and been in that embarrassing situation I would have closed my tab. This guy put a bad taste in my mouth and I will never return and will also steer people away from this place, anyone ever deal with Lloyd, the grumpy old man, go elsewhere. I’ve seen dogs here many times but if he wants to scream at you cause he’s having a bad day he will.
Staff hangs out there. I would avoid them off the clock. Oddly they can’t separate personal form business. Non friendly, disrespectful and obliviously uncaring for the community that supports they’re business. I would be embarrassed to own or work lett alone be affiliated with this operation. I apologize for bringing my business like many of my colleagues. I’m done with giving to ungrateful people.
This is my go to bar in South Austin. Great food, drinks, and prices. Nice pool tables, old movies and sports playing every day. Large back patio
How does a small bar have such great food!! This place is awesome. Everyone enjoy the food and drinks.
2nd time going here, and even though I never rate and review this early on new places for me. I felt I had to. 3 things: they have a live juke box(rare to find now) with a great selection, a very good vibe, and fairly priced drinks.Update 21’: I’m proud to say, I’ve gone here at least one more time since then. And just as I felt about it back then leaving. I feel just the same now whenever I leave. That’s special.
Pool tables good space chill vibe
Went in w stomach turning over after nothing on some Ego waffles- decided to eat the sweet potato fries and veggies burger- this was a SUPRISINGLY wonderful decision ♡ put some barbecue sauce and hot sauce on it and downed that "b"- the place smelled strong of innamon rolls- which had me wanting to order that; but to no avail- either way the bartenders were super-fun; and attentive. Glad I came in; just REALLY would love a coffee machine here so I may return to this place ♡ saw my planet K homies as well as Rustys crowd(Rusty and 04' took a hiatus forcing all their regulars here) -i will return here and the Beer Garden again♡
