First time trying Hot Pot! I choose the individual portion of the “build your own” with the green curry broth. Brings a bit of heat but not overwhelming. You have a choice of your preferred protein, 8 add in options from a large list, and several broth options as well. Staff was pleasant and and a clean restaurant.
Middle of the road Thai food. First time ordering from here and I was kind of disappointed. Portions are large, taste was meh. We got drunken noodles, eggplant and tom yum. Drunken noodles just tasted like noodles with some spicy paste in it. It was actually pretty dry, boring and bland. Eggplant had more bell peppers than actual eggplant. The tom yum tasted like something was missing. Taste of everything was just OK. May try again, but there's many better Thai places around here.
Pros: carryout order was ready on time. Food flavor was ok, not great but not bad, in general.Cons: Spring rolls were pre-made and refrigerated, so the rice paper was hard and cold, not fresh, though at least it did have mint. They had so much lettuce and so little vermicelli that felt a bit fibrous.However, the biggest disappointment was the tofu. We ordered spring rolls, Pad Thai, and Singapore Style Noodles all with tofu, which was the same price as versions with chicken or vegetables, only to be shocked and disappointed that all contained RAW tofu. It had not been cooked or even marinated in any way, simply cubed. Clearly, this imparts no flavor or texture at all to the finished dish! And at least chicken (and likely vegetables) has to be prepped, seasoned, and cooked in some way, so how can they charge the same amount for tofu when they didn't even do anything to it? It's not like tofu is more expensive than chicken or vegetables.We wanted to give this little place a chance, and when I went to pick up our carryout order the place was completely packed with people and even some waiting to be seated. I thought the popularity boded well for the likely quality of the food. Sadly, too many things were great disappointments, and we will not be returning.
Took myself on lunch date and the food was amazing as it always is. I drove 1hr from San Marcos to feed my craving ? totally worth it.The food is delicious and hot. As for the service, always fabulous.
???❤️❤️❤️I have been searching for a hot pot in Austin forever and this place is everything!! The food was amazing, the people were friendly and even the music was good. I'm just glad I don't have to catch a ✈️ to Cali for some good hot pot. Matter fact, I need a rewards system because I'm about to be here often ?
Great Experience! Great and tasty food! Would definitely recommend and would enjoy going back for another great experience. The staff were very helpful and seemed to notice if we ever needed anything. The portions were also very generous and I could only eat about half of what I was given. Seating was good as well. A big thank you to Basil Thai team! I already have told someone I know about this place and would highly recommend you check it out.
Had been looking for hotpot spots in Austin and this place caught my eye. Restaurant was very clean. Not a huge restaurant so gives like the mom and pops vibes and i loved it. Food was amazing!! Definitely my new favorite place!
Thai food is my favorite so I try to go to a Thai restaurant in every city I go to, and so far this place has the best food I've tried in Texas. The atmosphere can be improved a bit as it's a bit dark inside. But the food makes up for it. Tom yum soup is to die for! And any curry you try is going to be so good. They have a lunch special which is fairly priced. The lady (I'm assuming is the owner) is also very nice. A must go to place if you're in Austin!
I don't think I've ever had bad Pad Thai before until now. The sauce is nothing like I've ever had before. It has a very strong unappetizing odor and spice. I can't describe vinegar like odor. I am truly disappointed because I was looking forward to eating here. I'm also pretty hungry and now going to go get something to eat somewhere else because I don't want to cause issues with the waitress. Pad Thai is one of those dishes that I tell people you can't go wrong with if you've never had Thai food. This tastes nothing like it should. I'm sorry to say I will not be back here.
