I’ve been to a bunch of smaller, local coffee shops in Austin, but Barrett’s is hard to pull yourself away from for too long. It’s cozy and the brewed coffee and espresso are good (not cold brew fan).
The best coffee roaster in Austin. Come try their Ethiopian for a delightful roast. And their St John's blend is a solid everyday favorite for drip coffee.
A great coffee shop in my new neighborhood. Cozy and quiet just how I like my coffee shops. Staff were training so probably not the typical experience to have the ordering counter unattended which is understandable. It appeared they were roasting the coffee right in back?which if they do it on sight is awesome! The cappuccino was good, the espresso was smooth and slightly sweet. Parking is a bit awkward but as to be expected in a city.
Great coffee spot that’s worth the trek up. Roast their own beans so be sure to ask what beans are available to pick one that matches the types of flavors you like. The baristas are skilled enough to always make a great drink, and being able to order a cortado with the beans I want and receiving a very well pulled shot and delicious drink is a god send in this city. Tons of beans for sale as well, and you get a complimentary drink with your purchase of beans so feel free to grab something for home too. Lots of indoor space for seating, and 5-6 picnic tables outside.
TLDR: cute little shop with great coffeeCame in here for my Friday morning coffee. It has been on my list for a while, as I see it every morning on my commute, but the parking is rather limited, so as a mid-commute stop, it was never ideal. The interior of the shop is cute and pleasant, if not a bit stereotypical for a coffee shop. The barista was nice, and I got my order out in a couple of minutes, no problem. The latte was really solid, and the price point is frankly pretty great for what you are getting. 4.5/5
We live in the highland neighborhood and are so grateful to have a great coffee shop down the street. Great coffee and good vibes. The breakfast tacos are from Brazos Tacos and are so so but at least they have them.
Great coffee, kind baristas, beautiful interior, and lots of outdoor seating, Barrett’s coffee is certainly one of my favorite spots in north ATX! Free parking and washrooms available
Not worth it. Parking is insane... that alone deters me. It's the closest coffee to my apartment but I haven't come here in the year I've been living here due to parking. ? Now the coffee was watery. I got a latte with oat milk. Girl in front of me ordered latte with no milk alternative yet the guy making the coffee poured the same milk in my cup.? (owner responded below.. so good to know! Def a plus! That's why I had a questioning face instead of accusing. Thanks for the response!!!)
I love Barrett’s, and I’m hesitant to rate 5 stars because I want to gatekeep this restaurant, but that isn’t very nice so I won’t!Staff is truly excellent, I sincerely hope they are all getting paid well. They make the experience. Really awesome cold brew and made to order drinks, like…..so good. If you’re always in a rush like me, buy their already prepped cold brew. Always have tacos in the morning, would love to see them get a larger variety of pastries, but I know that this is first and foremost a coffee shop/roaster.Always fun to do work here or swing by for some coffee. I love barrett’s <3
They have the best decaf whole beans that I can find.Definitely get their airtight container if you buy whole beans here, you get a discount on filling up and aren't creating extra trash :).I would be spending hours and hours here if I did a lot of work on a portable computer, but I work on an immobile setup so I just come in for beans.
