An austin staple. Dark dance floor, cheap drinks, multiple stages. Where I learned to dance in my younger days. Grits and gravy (50s, 60s, 70s, 80’s) night is a must.

This is my favorite place in the world. It’s definitely changed over the years but still somehow has the same charm it did a decade ago. It’s a place for everyone while also not being for everyone… if that makes sense. The music and dance floor are incredible and always on point. Dance floor can get pretty packed but if you’re not ready to dance, you really shouldn’t be there. There’s plenty of space to stand around out back at the outside dj/stage. This place will forever hold the most special place in my heart!

I only go for Tuezgays and i always have a fun time. more dua lipa, gaga, and Ariana tho plz! haha its a fun place to sweat out on the dancefloor and forget your problems. not so glamourous, kinda crusty and funky, but it adds to the charm it doesn't scare you off. unless you're a germaphobe

Terrible front door staff! Like I don't think I've ever been to a bar were the staff are just rude for no reason like it was to the point we're I didn't even wanna enter here's my tip for you front door staff members if you hate your job that much just leave your misery shows not only in your face but in the way you treat the customers who did not wrong barb needs to let go of all those men I won't step foot back in a club like that I come to have a good time not to be disrespected by some high school dropout's! I went the night of 6,7,2022 these workers are losing you money do whatever you like but I won't be back

I was just manhandled and groped by security towards the end of the night before the rest of the crowd was asked to leave. If you are a woman I would recommend steering clear of this establishment unless you want to be grabbed by security for absolutely no reason at all other than being profiled.

Careful what days you go. Some are free before 10:30 some are not. This should list there events on the front. Definitely can be managed better. You’ll have a good time.

This is the most racist experience I have ever had in my life in a place that considers themselves inclusive. They declined a person purely due to her pronunciation of her Mexican European heritage and an accent. It is shameful as any place to treats any human in such a dismissive way. I am ashamed to have to have this interaction from a friend solely due to her race. Her and my experience were indefinite racism. I thought as a city we were better but sadly this is not true.

My friends and I got physically assaulted at Barbarella’s and then kicked out for reporting him. It would be nice if there were even one safe space for trans people in Austin

I went last Friday for the 80's music and I LOVED it. It was such a fun environment and I felt really comfortable. Everyone was just dancing and singing along, it was a good environment.I only didn't give the 4th & 5th star because they need a better sign out from to help customers know where to go and the cleanliness level of inside the bar could be increased. Oh, and the drink my boyfriend bought spilled immediately after the bartender handed it to him and the bartender saw and didn't feel inclined to remake it. I thought that was pretty low customer service--this was our first round of drinks too, we weren't drunk, it was just set on an uneven surface.

Love Barbs seriously. We have a Meetup that we bring to Barbs, because we are guaranteed fun, good dancing and a safe space. The owner and workers are all very nice.
