Bhan Mi is the star of the show. Traditional combos on tender baguette come with fresh veggies that add a snap to the delicious combos. Good news is they also offer conventional style sandwiches for the picky eaters. The hainese chicken was fragrant and delicately flavored. Don't forget the drinks, smoothies, milk tea and coffee. There are conventional drink in the cooler too, so there is something for everyone.
I never leave reviews but I've been searching for the best banh mi in Austin since I moved here 5 years ago and I finally found it. I got the special combination banh mi and it reminds me so much of the sandwiches I'd get around Bellaire in Houston. The prices are great too. I always feel a little ripped off when banh mi costs more than $6 like at some places. They don't skimp out on the meats either. A truly perfect sandwich!
We decided to give Baguette House a try because I wanted to see what the bánh mì in Austin was like. Well, to say the least, I was a bit disappointed. We ordered the House Special Combination Baguette, House Combination Baguette, BBQ Pork Baguette, Meatball Baguette, Pork Steam Bun, and Avocado Smoothies. To give a little background about myself: I absolutely love bánh mì and have tried a variety of them, from different places -- Vietnam; Dong Phuong Bakery in New Orleans, LA; Quoc Bao in Garland, TX; and a couple of others in California. There was nothing really special about the bánh mì at Baguette House. The House Special Combination, House Combination Baguette, and Meatball Baguette were fairly underwhelming. I wish it had more flavor. The BBQ Pork Baguette was the best bánh mì out of all that we ordered. All of the bread was also fairly crispy. The Pork Steam Bun was not good at all, and I'd go as far as to say that it wasn't worth it. It tasted old and soggy, though the staff heated it for me right then and there. I will say that the Pork Steam Bun is fairly cheap in comparison to other bakeries, though. The Avocado Smoothie was also not something worth getting. We couldn't taste the Avocado flavor, but we definitely tasted a flavor of vanilla ice cream. Powder or not, it didn't taste or resemble an Avocado Smoothie.Moving on to the customer service — although the staff member assisted me with my order, I felt like I was unwanted. I walked in, and because it was my first time, I asked her if she could wait a moment. I immediately saw an eye roll — that should have warranted us to leave, but because we were already there, might as well try out the food. As I proceed to place my order with her, she seemed very uninterested and kept looking at my friends and not me, though I was the one placing the order. There was no one else there except for us, so it's not like something was too interesting that she couldn't even be bothered with.Baguette House was a place I really wanted to visit because I wanted to try Vietnamese food in Austin. Little did I know it was a disappointment. If you visit Baguette House and would like to try a bánh mì, I'd recommend the BBQ Pork Baguette since it was the best I've tried. I also wanted to try the Pate So, but they ran out by the time I came. The big reason for the rating is due to the customer service and then the food. No one wants to walk inside a business and feel unwelcome, but that's exactly how I felt, whether I spoke English/Vietnamese to the staff member who took the order. The bánh mì, for what you get: quality and amount, is fairly expensive. I've been to better places, with cheaper bánh mì and discounts (i.e. Buy 3 Get 1 Free).
Good, tasty Bahn mi. Bread is excellent. Wish the pickled vegetable had more flavor, and wish they gave cucumbers. Very fast service.
Ordered Thai iced tea w/ tapioca. There was too much ice in the drink and the tapioca was all stuck together in chunks by the time I got home. The bread on the house special banh mi was good, but the meat was not very good :( The bao wasn’t very good either…even when heated up. Not sure I’ll be back.
This place has the best vegetarian bahn mi outside of my moms kitchen! Seriously, it’s amazing, if you are vegan or vegetarian and read this, check it out! If you’re not vegan or vegetarian, know this, their meat sandwiches are all equally amazing, and if I’m raving about the tofu banh mi, you can imagine how good the pork one is! I am trying to not eat meat much, but baguette house always tempts me! I’m lucky the veggie is so good really. Love this place!
Great food for the price you get. Tastes clean and healthy
Good food. Great active and busy atmosphere.
First time here are it was amazing! Husband is already planning our next trip there next weekend. Wish this place was closer to us!
Cajun shrimp Banh Mi sandwich was delightful, first time here, we would recommend and revisit!
