We were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol Hill and the bartender there recommended Arturo's Underground for breakfast. It is just across the street from the hotel, so very convenient. We arrived a few minutes before it opened at 8 am on a Friday and were the second folks through the door. You order at the counter, get a number, and take a seat if you're dining in. We chose the basement seating. Great music was playing on the sound system. Coffee was excellent and the breakfast tacos were the tops!! Wish we lived closer so we could go more often. Staff were very friendly.
Friendly service, and good coffee!
We really enjoyed our visit! The ambient is a bit on the weirder side but in a good way. The food was surprisingly delicious! I can personally recommend their grilled cheese, it has tomatoes and pesto which give it a pizza like flavor.Service was good and it's definitely on the unique side of experiences :)
Came here on Sunday for brunch with a few friends. We got there at 11:15am, and there was a line outside of the restaurant. The line moved pretty fast, and we were seated by 11:30am. It is a small and cute restaurant. Our server is very friendly. We ordered 2 cups of break blend coffee, and a cup of cappuccino. We got the coffee pretty quickly, but the cappuccino did not get to us until 20 min later.I also found out that they don't have breakfast tacos on weekends. I felt a bit sad as everyone told me that I have to have breakfast taco in Texas. I ordered chorizo scramble instead. The menu mentioned the the food has to made now it was designed and cannot be personalized (I wish that I can request for no spicy as I cannot eat spicy). The food got to our table 30 mins after we placed the order. My chorizo scramble was very tasty, except that it is a bit too spicy for me. I spent time picking out the green pepper and jalapeño out. The chorizo is very flavorful, and not oily.I might return to try their breakfast taco when I am in town again.
Super tasty. Super different. Super fun. We got there a few mins before they opened and were glad because there was a wait by the time we left. Definitely add to your list of places to check out!
First time here! This place is really cool, and hip lol the music is great and the staff is super friendly.I had breakfast since it was early when I got here. Los huevos rancheros were very tasty, and the sauce wasn't spicy (for me) but the flavor was very good. I love this place for sure and want to give it 4 stars but the beans were a tad bit under cooked, and I wished the tortillas were real tortillas and not the fake kind. The guy up front was also super nice and helpful and suggested the pecan flavored coffee (which was an excellent choice).I'll definitely be coming back sometime and I'll make sure to bring my friends so they can check it out
I am working on creating a machine that will shrink my body to the size of a house mouse so that I can live inside the Arturo's coffee maker for the rest of eternity and bathe in the boiling bean juice. Please tip the staff in Euros because they're cool
I suppose it's underground by virtue of having the seating area downstairs, so okay. I expected a different vibe with underground in the name.A converted house - you can see the old shower head in the bathroom over the toilet - it's not really what you expect when you walk in.Good thing the food is excellent and the service is attentive.
For Brunch, be prepared to wait at least 20-30 minutes of you're not one of the first ones in line.I tell you what tho, brunch is worth the wait. There's a mad scientist working the kitchen that's putting these incredible brunch dishes together: fried eggs covered in chipotle hollandaise sauce and pico, cheese and bacon and sitting on jalapeno bread??? Or eggs benni with a chipotle hollandaise on grilled english muffins??? Caribbean french toast???? What-what????Remember what i said about the wait? You'll need that time to work your appetite a bit longer. I was hungry when we got there and standing in line REALLY built up my hunger even more, moreso that my stomach was speaking embarrassingly loud. That's the good thing because you'll need that appetite to kill those massive portions.
