Great tofu.
Worst food and slowest service . Waited over a hour for appetizers . RAW meat in the wonton soup .
The food here is great and some of it can't be had elsewhere. Sichuan style and very spicy--not unpleasant--just spicy. Very fun to try all the dishes.
A plus A Chinese is near home and easy to access. The venue is attractive. Service was passable. Menus good. Food quality was such that I couldn’t eat it. Luckily there are other Chinese restaurants nearby.
We went to lunch on a Thursday. First time. Wondered why it was not busy at 12:00, especially since Nanking was closed for remodeling. Once we got in the door my heart sank, but I was not going to let the old, sad vibe ruin what might be very good food. Well, unfortunately the food matched the decor. Our waitperson was very nice, but once he brought the food NEVER returned to the table except when we asked for the check. We do not expect outstanding service, just someone to come and refill our glasses once. Food was just OK. This place needs to be completely gutted and remodeled. I hope they make it. WE will not be back.
Seriously
I don't know if I would come here for "regular" Chinese food but I definitely would for Szechuan food - it's in that name of the place! The food had a nice spiciness (although it could have been spicier). It numbed the tongue a little (as it's supposed to do) and the chili was very flavorful. Our favorites were the spicy dumpling appetizers and Sichuan chicken (similar to dry chili chicken). The service was very quick (less than 10 minutes from walking in to being served) which was good as we were in a hurry. Again, know what yo expect when you go. If you want simple Chinese food go somewhere else.
