This place reminded me of my Granny's cooking. She only used salt and pepper to season and somehow the food was still perfect. That's how this place was. I had the beef tips over rice, yams cabbage and Mac and cheese with corn bread.
The Experience is in itself....Go and Enjoy the Beef Tips or OX Tails or anything on the Menu you can eat....My curse is I can't enjoy the seafood but I can show you a photo of what else my fam loves it for
Everything I got was good except for the cabbage.... It is very hard and crunchy and seems like it was never cooked at all. The ox tails the gumbo and the chicken spaghetti was good. The catfish was on point as well as the greens..... But that crunchy hard cabbage needs to go!
The environment was a vibe but the food was ok, oxtails was kind of bland not well seasoned and more bone then meat. Mac and cheese was good, cabbage was very spicy and had a unpleasant sweet taste to it. Not picture worthy either. Yams were very good. Daiquiri was good as well. Outside table top was so Sticky and messy it was hard to want to sit there. Tables were in the sun and sticky as well.
The service was okay, I was not greeted or acknowledged upon walking in despite there being three workers at the food line and there were no customers in line except me. I literally starred at them with confusion wondering if I was at the right spot to retrieve my online order. I then inquired on if they would help me.Honestly in 2022, this is simply unacceptable and the reason why black business sometimes get a bad rep. Message to Employees: Just know the customers keep the employees employed. You aren’t doing us a favor by serving us. It is your duty. Think back to Covid and how hard everything was and treat customers kindly, as there are other places to buy daiquiris and mediocre soul food.Nonetheless, my review is simply based on the actual food experience.I ordered baked chicken (2 quarters) with yams and Mac and cheese. The yams were good. The chicken was very fair in color and bland. I added some bbq sauce and it did not help. I also think the chicken could have cooked a little while longer. It was undercooked. I ended up throwing the other quarter chicken away. The mac and cheese was not good at all. I went the day before Easter hoping for some good mac and cheese, as I had to travel for work on Easter Sunday.The mac and cheese had no cheese. Like none. Lol. The sauce it was in tasted very much like imitation cheese and it was very milky and bland. I added shredded cheese to it, but it could not mask the awful taste of the imitation cheese. Sadly, I will not be back for any food. I will try the daiquiris next time.Wish I could get my money back as the food was trashed!!! What a waste of effort, time and money!!!! But it wasn’t worth risking food poisoning as some customers have reported.
Delicious! I tried the beef tips with dirty rice, collard greens, and yams. Reminded me of my mom's cooking back home. The daiquiri was also delicious. First timer and I'll be back!
I ordered the 2 piece catfish plate $17 with tax and this is what I got. I’m sorry but I definitely did not expect this. I was expecting 2 whole pieces of catfish not 1 piece of small catfish cut into 2 pieces. The menu should say 2 piece of small catfish because this is clearly 1 piece for almost $20.
Ok today maybe the food on the line is better but this cabbage crunchy and peppered down not done, these was suppost to be grilled chops these were tough and no flavor and the daiquiris only have 18% wine in them per the old school man serving at the counter said as he gave me this 17.00 jug . I try my best to support our people but this was by far the worst experience and I tipped both sides wow
Well I will say I do stop in once a week for the beef tips and rice which is excellent. I love the sides I also would like to ask the manager if they can make instead of the cornbread if you can also make some hot water cornbread. We know us folks from the country love us some greens and hot water cornbread. I haven't tried the daquri's yet but it's on my list. Thank you for serving Arlington some good soul food. FM.
Like this place food is great. Have eaten the BBQ chicken plate and another occasion had gumbo. Both was very good but not as good as my gumbo lolPartner gets daiquiri this last time a sampler with I reckon all flavors in one huge glass.
