Came for trivia night and loved it! If I lived in Dallas, I'd be a regular. Service was astonishingly patient and good humored. My friend asked the bar for an off-menu cocktail and now it may get added. My reuben was altered to be vegetarian and tho it may not pop up on the menu, I was really satisfied (kimchi, cheese and mushrooms works!) And the sweet potato wedges w/cheese and guac - ridic. Bought them for the table and mostly polished them off myself. Not ashamed. This place was a perfect combo of service, fun and quality eats. Can't wait to visit again!
Once upon a time this was a sweet little English pub with a nightly regular showing of people to BS with. The menu was good. The rotating beer selection was good. We enjoyed going there every now and then. However, we went tonight and found out it's under new management. The menu is a 1/3 of the original. It's all crappie bar food now. Drink selection is overpriced and very limited. $11 for a 10oz temptress. The place was empty except for 1 other couple. The staff was fine but I'll never go back. It's an absolute rip off now with no redeeming value. It's a shame. This place was wonderful once.
I have gone to JR Bentley's for decades. I saw a write up regarding new ownership and a positive review of the food. My brother and I went today to try it out. Menu is very limited. Mostly burgers and salads. The salads all have a hamburger patty or fried chicken in them. Nothing healthy about these salads. I ordered chicken tenders. The order included 3 tenders that appeared to come from a fast food joint. My brother also ordered the tenders, that small portion did not begin to fill him up. Oh, did I mention my bill was $40 for 2 drinks and 2 chicken tender orders? One and done. Will not be going back again. Sorry to see the decline of this restaurant.
45 minute wait for mediocre, overpriced food. Wait staff and kitchen each blamed the other for the wait.Went in Friday 5/28/22 around 5pm and sat down. Menus were brought out immediately, and 10 minutes later the waitress takes our order. Then we were forgotten about for another 35 minutes, until my niece asked what was taking so long, and I suggested that 45 minutes is too long to wait for a 92 dollar order, and I'd just prefer to get my refund and go.Magically, the food arrived after that, but no one wanted to take responsibility, and the manager did nothing to make it right. No free meal. No discount of any kind. Not even an apology. Instead, we got a smirk.NEVER coming back.
New owners made Bentley's worse. Great menu items gone. Now removing veggie burgers. No more vegetarian options. No real point to coming back. Can get a drink anywhere. What made Bentley's special is gone. Been coming here since college. So sad.At least the chef has always been amazing. Feel for him constrained by this new menu and food quality. He deserves better.
Went there tonight to give it a try since we heard it had changed owners. To be blunt, do not waste your time trying them, unless you like overcooked and over seasoned food. Not to mention overpriced, WAAAAAY overpriced. My wife and I went there tonight and we had hopes that the new owners didn’t change up a place badly that I have literally been going to since high school, from when they were originally on Cooper st. This is one of the few places I could take my wife to that she genuinely loved the food. No longer.1 order of fried pickles appetizer1 order of cheesy fries with beef appetizer1 beer/ temptress (looked only about 8oz)1 sour (that they couldn’t even be bothered to pour into a glass, served it to my wife in the can)Price tag? 42 bucksWe sat at our table for ten minutes before the waitress even came over.It took them another five minutes to bring us our drinks, and the place was only about a third full. Before? Best customer service and food. Greeted when we entered, staff friendly and quick and good byes when we left. Now? Didn’t enjoy it from entry to departure.
Beer selection is super cold, service is great. Our first trip we had cowboy balls (damn delicious) a burger and sweet potatoe fries. It was excellent! Came back a second time and ordered the chicken tenders. They were the cheap frozen kind, we got 4, with fries that weren’t seasoned. McDonalds chicken nuggets beats what we got by a landslide. For a place to have such a limited menu, you would expect the real thing. We were so disappointed. But my hopes are up for them to get that fixed. I will however go back again for the burgers and sweet potatoe fries. Great atmosphere. Cool place, great service!
They've been under new management recently. On the service side, they're doing great, the staff was really nice and attentive. However, this used to be my favorite place for a Gluten Free Burger and Fries, but the spot is no longer to friendly to those with Celiac or gluten allergies. No gluten free buns or separate fryer like they used to.
I have been coming to Bentley’s for years. So when I found out Bentleys was sold, I was nervous. However, I came in anyway on a Saturday afternoon after the buyout. The ambiance is the same. My favorite bartender, Kim, is still behind the bar. The changes, while different, are great! My usual go-to were the now retired chuck’s cheese fries, so in lieu of them, I ordered the special Last Samurai fries. Chuck who? The new fries are delicious! They’ve also added a few new taps, expanding draft options. Also, who can complain about every day happy hour? 2-6 and 11-close. Bentley’s is still the same bar I love, albeit with newer and honestly, better options.
This is a local place for a few beers and pub food. Hamburgers, meat pie, and fish and chips is the sort of thing you will find. Their happy hour includes a pitcher of beer for $6... You can't argue with that price. Nice ambiance (kids allowed only until 9pm).
