Abuelo's has such a cool presence from the moment you walk in the huge iron gates, to when you're seated in a room decorated like a hacienda, with the ceiling being painted like the sky. The three salsas served with chips were pretty good, I was hoping one would be muy caliente. The chile con queso was good. My partner ordered the grande burrito with chicken which was gigantic and delicious as she described it. My shrimp fajita salad was really flavorful, the shrimp were cooked to perfection. Our waitress was great, very attentive and constantly making sure we needed nothing.Overall, we would definitely return to Abuelo's if we're near one of their locationsFood 4/5Service 5/5Atmosphere 5/5Cleanliness 4/5Parking 5/5
The restaurant has great authentic Mexican ambiance and you feel like you are deep in old Mexico (in a good way!). I thought the food was excellent. I started with a Jefe margarita which is made with their proprietary tequila and uses a charred orange. The chips are very authentic. Thin and hot. The salsas were ok. Since I couldn't settle on which entire to try I went with a combo. And was glad I did. The burrito and cheese enchilada was perfect. It also included a tamale which was great. Overall the food tasted very authentic and not your typical chain franchise. I actually came back a second time before leaving town!
This is my go to for any visitors in town. I know whoever I bring here will enjoy a great meal and good drinks. This visit was a lunch stop with a dear friend. We opted to sit at the bar since it was just two of us. We were seviced immediately and drinks were made perfectly. We even had a fun conversation with the bartender. It's abou the experience. Hands down.Of course, my lunch was awesome. I ordered cheese enchiladas during this visit along with an El Jefe Margarita, which everyone must try.You cannot go wrong visiting this restaurant.
Lunchtime no crowd. Service was great. Chips were warm and three flavors of salsa. The green was sweet with pineapple. Other two were more traditional. Chile relleno was great. The platinum margarita was delicious and plenty of tequila. The burrito with shredded beef had great flavor. Was smaller than expected. Beans were smoky. Rice on the side and a small scoop of guacamole. Better than first time when we stopped and there was a 2 hour wait. Sorry I don't wait for prime rib and lobster 2 hours. I am sure we will be back and try some other items.
Food was good and the wait wasn't bad. But the server was lackluster to our table for some reason. There was a table next to us she had and she seemed much more cheerful. She didn't seem kid friendly and acted like she didn't want to be there. There may always be something else going on but that does not mean the guests should feel that same vibe.
The food was excellentWe didn't get to enjoy our food in the main dining area, we had to be seated in the bar area because the hostess didn't acknowledge us when we came back in after; we didn't receive text till after we were seated in the bar area with the apologies of the Manager(giving a free appetizer). It's was my Husband Birthday and we really don't eat out much, we were so excited to come there. So being seated in the bar area, due to the hostess era was disappointing. Then I begin to see others who look like me being seated in the bar area also, and I begin to think is the a racial issue going on here.Maybe the seating situation needs to be managed better, so a patron of that establishment won't feel like they are being discrimated against.
Clean restaurant, friendly hostess, great service, delicious food. Had the Chicken and zucchini, wife had steak fajitas. Both were prepared and presented hot and tasty with generous portions. Definitely one of my favorite places to dine, highly recommend giving them a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Food is mediocre, not authentic Mexican food. Prices are high, flour tortillas are store bought. Plates are very hot to the touch but food was just slightly warm. Salsa that was put out with chips had no taste whatsoever. Appearance of the inside of the restaurant is nice but definitely would not return due to the food.
My husband and I had lunch at Abuelo's today (11/13/22). My husband had the taco/enchilada plate and I had the Mexican stack. They were both delicious meals! We were also served 3 different salsas with chips for an appetizer. The salsas were also delicious! Our waitress, Elizabeth, was one of the best waitresses we have ever had! She did a fantastic job! My husband and I highly recommend Abuelo's!
Excellent atmosphere. There was so much to look at (murals, canvas art, architecture, etc.) The staff were very friendly and made sure you had what you needed. Absolutely will go again.
