What a treasure! The food was delicious. Best greens I've had in a while. The family running it was a delight. Sat and laughed with them while we watched Judge Judy together in the dining room. Left with full bellies and a venus fly trap they gave us when we asked about them in the window LOL. Please go and support this great little restaurant. Dont be fooled by the outside. It's a diamond in the rough!
You may be tempted to keep driving when you pull up to this place. DONT! The service and food was wonderful. We were passing through driving from AZ to Ohio when we read the reviews online and decided to stop. From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed. We figured since we were in TX we better have bbq,we were not disappointed. The ribs are awesome. Catfish, brisket,green beans,potato salad and red beans &rice were delicious as well!
Don't even think twice about going here. Not only is the food absolutely incredible, but the owners are just the most delightful people ever. Everything was perfect: ribs that fall off the bone, moist flavorful brisket, collard greens that bursting with flavor, catfish that was perfectly breaded and fried, sweet tea,, mash potatoes creamy and light, mac and cheese that was perfect. But even better than the food, was the hospitality of the owners. Just the sweetest kindest people. Just wonderful. Please go there.
Well when we first walked in, it wasn’t 30 secs til the owner came in snapping at EVERY customer in the place demanding for someone to move their car from his parking lot (“whoever has their white suv needs to move! It’s blocking my parking lot!”) It was not our car but he was looking at us like we were supposed to get nervous. I don’t care what kind of ratings you have on food (which we did not try so I cannot comment on that), but one I know is you don’t EVER speak (actually borderline yell) to your customers that way…. in any circumstance. Looking at their reviews, it looks like they could have good food, but if their owner treats people with no dignity, they aren’t getting my business.
The food was fantastic! We had the catfish with mac & cheese, greens, and onion rings. I think I could make a meal out of that mac and cheese. ? The owner is really nice and gives back to the community! If I lived in the area this place would be in my rotation of places to order from!
What a phenomenal place! The catfish is probably the best in town. The greens are amazing. Super friendly people. Try it if you haven't.
