Used to be a whole lot better

Good bar-b-que!

Sides aren't bad either. Amarillo might have a ton of good restaurants. I don't know and will never find out, because I will always eat at this place when I'm here. Another thing I always do is get enough brisket (get the wet brisket) and ribs to eat the next day, also. An important safety tip - if you get the wet brisket to take out, be careful because it will leak thru the paper bags they use. A ruined shirt is a small price to pay for brisket this good, though.

Great food! Fast and friendly. Julio your the best!

One of my favorite BBQ places ?

My wife and I traveled through the south in February comparing mostly BBQ. places, seafood restaurants, steakhouses, and a few local cajun/creole eateries along the way. We tried to eat “local” cuisine, so what better place to eat when in Texas but Rudy’s? Where their motto is “Real Texas B.B.Q.”. Since Rudy’s is a chain of restaurants and not just in Texas, I wasn’t really expecting too much to be honest. However, after trying many local B.B.Q. places across the south, I have to admit that Rudy’s brisket wins hands-down as the best. From the moment you see the very large “smoke ring” on every slice, you KNOW this stuff was smoked lovingly for a very long time. Maybe it’s the oak Rudy’s uses to smoke their meats, maybe it’s the time and attention they give it, I don’t know. But I can tell you that their brisket has a flavor unique to Rudy’s that I could not find at any other B.B.Q. place that I tried anywhere on our trip through the south (and we tried MANY places!) We thought it was so good for dinner that we stopped in there again the following morning on our way out of town for some brisket breakfast burritos. I also must mention the friendliness of the morning staff that was there was nice to wake up to. I am a very picky eater, and in my nearly 100 reviews on TripAdvisor, I rarely give a restaurant a solid 5-star rating, but Rudy’s in Amarillo, Texas definitely earned it!?

I was very surprised at the most recent bad review here. Wife and I stopped yesterday around 5PM and we found the staff to be happy, engaged and very pleasant. And out pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. Would highly recommend. *note...they were not at all busy as it was early for the dinner hour but we thought all the food was amazing!

In Amarillo on a Sunday night, desperate to find a place not crowded with unmasked Texans, we went to Rudy's. The best summary of the meal was people chow. My wife and I had baked potatoes with pulled pork, I had a side of cole slaw. The football-sized potato was overbaked, mealy and flavorless. The pulled pork was greasy and, well, flavorless. The sauce, not the one labeled "not for sissies", ketchup with some peppers added. The cole slaw was stale cabbage with no flavor.... So I guess that sums up the meal, flavorless. At least the free peppers were good, the jalapenos. The cherry peppers, you guessed it, flavorless. People chow. The best thing I can say is it wasn't crowded with unmasked Texans. Now we know why.

Good place to eat, I'm always satisfied.

We came in “to check out” the place and determine if this was the best spot to get our Texas BBQ fix. The place was extremely clean and country charming. Julio immediately greeted us and starting telling us about the bbq. We were hooked by a taste test he offered. We had the smoked turkey and brisket. Both were moist, full of flavor! For the sides we ordered the cream corn, potato salad and baked beans…all winners! I am an ice tea snob and theirs was spot on. Julio (super friendly and helpful) came back during our meal to check on us. If you are anywhere in the area do yourself a favor and stop in and enjoy!!
