Got the CFS sampler, OUT OF SIGHT! I love CFS, THIS is a top 10 best I've ever had, cutem all w a fork. Fries were fresh cut and done to perfection. I'll be back, service & ambience were perfect....I typically don't give 5 stars but if I did they'd get one.
Great little gem that is semi hidden. I NEVER even noticed ther place until a friend took me there. If you like good comfort food then this place is somewhere you should try. I have Maggie's chicken fried steak and it was delicious. You can either make chicken fried steak or you can't, these guys can. Loved their gravy as well.
Green Chile Willys is a great place for a casual night out. The waitress was amazing and our food came out nice and hot. I loved that the atmosphere of the restaurant allowed for conversation without shouting. The jalapeno jack chicken fried chicken was excellent, but the fried pecan pie was the deal sealer. We'll definitely be back!
This place is popular and gets crowded. There's a wait in the evening. And there's a simple reason why. Namely, the Texas comfort classic of chicken fried steak is a vanishing menu item. And when it comes to chicken fried steak, Green Chile Willy's serves one of the best around.We waited for nearly an hour. Fortunately, they have a relatively well cooled waiting room where you can pass the time with others waiting to harden their arteries. After our wait, we both had chicken fried steak with a variety of sides. Our server was warm and friendly -- and also kept our tea refilled.The dinner itself was a perfect specimen. The chicken fried steak was crispy and the cream gravy didn't even need pepper.If you're in Amarillo and craving Texas comfort cooking, this is the place and it's well worth the wait.
We came here recommended by Craig Bruce Spruce, Pagosa Springs Colorado while fly fishing. He lives near Canyon. Wonderful recommendation well worth 15 minutes off I40 on way to Dallas. Great server Jamie efficient and friendly. I had the small tasty Chicken Fried steak w mash potatoes and okra. D had a giant sized order of delicious Chicken fried chicken same sides. We are Seniors great portions after for ToGo box. Plus we got wonderful Banana creme pie and Peach shortcut to enjoy after in La Quinta Airport Amarillo. Will return next year. Like the rustic Western interior. High Recommend for all and Families.
**Gave this place 2 stars because I found this metal piece in my mac and cheese.. I bought this for my one year old so thank god I saw it before serving him**Despite the mistake, this place was hands down the best tasting and home style restaurant I've been to. BEST chicken fry I've had in the Texas Panhandle. There was no drop in flavor in either one of my entrees and the sides were tasty as well.I'd love to give this place another try despite this unfortunate incident and give y'all the 5 stars you deserve.Amazing food.
Very very good Chicken Fried Steaks, with Green Chile Gravy, But the Jalapeño Gravy is the best gravy I've ever had! Will be back & would recommend to anyone!
The chicken fried steak and gravy was Awesome!! Not so much for the fries they were skinny fries was a nono need fat fries with that kind of gravy.
Service was friendly, and speedy. Our dinner was delicious! ..but it's always good whenever you order their jalapeño jack chicken fried chicken!! The burger was also delicious! We need to make more frequent stops here. Can't wait to come back.
Very rustic. Food is very good. I had the smaller portion of the Chicken Fried Steak and had left overs for two additional meals. It was recommended to us by a friend in Dallas. Definitely will go again.
