Passing through, stopped at Dyers based on reviews. Food was ok, and served lukewarm. Kids chicken strips were a hit with the 10 year old, the brisket was tasty and I am sure the onion rings would have been fabulous if they were hot.
If you are a true racist, homophobe or just filled with hate for anyone who is not protestant, old and white this is the place for you. I was shocked as were others with the vitriol spewed from the customers. At first thought someone would say something but the employees joined right in with the hate filled speech. I am from Amarillo but have never been anywhere where so much hate and evil was spread.
We stopped at Dyers on our way from CA to TN per a friend’s recommendation since it’s close to the hotel we stayed at in Amarillo. The bbq brisket was sooooo yummy and it came with ALL the trimmings, not a choice of one or two and the price is so reasonable! So, on our way back we made sure to stop there again and this time we ordered to go- brisket and chopped beef and they were just as delicious! Potato salad tasted fresh, onion rings crispy and cole slaw tasted just right, not full of sugar or mayo! Wish they had Dyers in TN where I live or in CA where my friend lives! We paid less than $30 for great food that would’ve cost us over $50 elsewhere!
Stopped in for lunch on our way to ABQ. The decor/ambiance is kind of out dated and the place is dark. It was just after the lunch crowd on a Sunday and the place was pretty clean except on my trip to the restroom I had to walk carefully because the floor was so greasy (?) and slippery. Also, as I walked through the bar to get to the Ladies' there were a bunch of employees just sitting at the bar. Service was really great and the food was decent. We just had burgers which were nice although the fries were not anything special. My husband's were not fresh and he didn't eat them but they brought mine out after the burger and they were fresh so they were better. So just your average chain-style BBQ place.
Came here with high hopes because of all there rewards on their walls.. but I was not impressed at all. The vibes in the restaurant were good and the service was alright. The waitress did happen to spill water on me, not a big deal just sort of inconvenient. I ordered the combination plate with 1 Brisket 1 Rib and some pulled pork. All I have to say was it was all dry.. very dry. Wasn't impressed at all. The onion rings were the best things on the plate. It all had great flavors but really dry. Not sure if we caught them at a bad time or what. Overall I'd say it was just okay. Maybe I'll be back to try it again to give them another chance.
We live out of state, but have been coming to Dyers for the past 4 years. Whenever we are traveling through Amarillo, we make a point of stopping here. Generally 3-5X/yr. My son and I stopped in this past week. He loves BBQ and this was his first time going with us. What a huge disappointment!! Waitress was friendly, but made couple errors. Ordered beef brisket, received just beef. She took back to kitchen and brought out correctly. Ordered sweet tea, received unsweetened. Nothing that I can’t overlook! The disappointment came with food taste and presentation. BBQ was bland, both pulled pork and brisket was very fatty. Also, was served luke warm. We both tried our fries, right when served and they were cold. Yes, I should have complained right away. Adult son doesn’t like any fuss, so I figured I’d keep quiet on temp of fries. It wasn’t until we left and were in car talking, that I realized both of us were not impressed with the meats either. Don’t understand when you go in on weeknight, around 6:30-7, why food presentation was so off. There were other diners there, but they definitely were not busy for such poor service.
First off two things. Circumstances had us show up here at 710 on a Friday night which probably contributed to the downside of our experience. Second the food was very good. We thoroughly enjoyed it. But... They were busy for sure between dine in and take out business. We were seated, and greeted by the server quiet promptly. It took quiet a while for drinks to come but I ordered unsweetened ice tea in Texas and some times they have to do a fresh brew for that so was not concerned However it pretty quickly became evident that although the front of the house was doing the best they could, the kitchen was having trouble keeping up. We waited about 40 minutes for our food. I felt bad for the table behind us who had several small children with them. I really wanted to try the blackberry cobbler because it's a favorite of mine but it was getting close to 9 pm after a long day on the road so I passed would love to come back when they are less busy so I can try it.
Great food and service!!!
I am really trying to be nice about this. Looks are so deceiving. Pulled pork, no smoke flavor, obviously baked, chopped and swimming in sauce to hide the fact that it wasn't smoked. Potato salad was at least made with real potatoes. Cole slaw had a very strong vinegar and pepper taste. Ham was just deli type ham warmed up. My thoughts are, if you have a smoker why not use it. Sauce was decent. Not pictured was the beans, burnt beans, I tried to put them in my mouth, couldn't get past the burnt bean smell. Was a waste of money.
Was in town to pick up some great BBQ to take home. I called in my order. I got there, paid for Cowboy plate and Dyers plate. The order was not ready, after 30 minutes. They come out and say sorry, no ribs!! Dang!! So I picked pork tenderloin and pulled pork. They come back out and sorry no pork tenderloin. Dang. Well, pulled pork. It is.....then come to find out they have ribs, but only to people that are eating at restaurant, not to go orders??? What a crock!!! And I called my order in at 6 pm??? What kind of rule is this? My money is just as good as anyone else's. I even tip since it's been the pandemic.
