This restaurant is a gem in Abilene Texas. As you drive up the appearance let's you know this is a well maintained establishment. The staff are polite and efficient. And of course the food is prepared with care and attention to quality and taste. I will return anytime I return to Abilene. Thank you for a great experience.
First timer! Wonderful food and service! Exceptional taste and a truly memorable dinner for my wife, and I and our 19 month old. Got the sesame chicken and shrimp lo mein with sweet and sour soup and fried spring roll. Reasonable prices for a large quantity of high quality food! Outstanding! Quiet dinning setting, and business was getting busier on Monday at 5 pm. Also, my kid enjoyed the large decorative koi in pond!
Today was our second trip to Szechuan, while visiting from Lubbock. loved the meal both times. This trip, had hot &sour soup, pot stickers, sweet&sour chicken and Szechuan Beef. All meats were tender and seasoned well. the sauces were right on point.
The only reason it gets a single star, I can’t do a review with zero stars. The entrees were each cold. The appetizers each tasted wrong and were cold as well. The two types of crab wantons tasted like bad fish and were over cooked. Szechuan wantons were completely bland, with no spice or flavor. Chicken curry was almost warm but was 95% vegetables. The egg drop and sweet and sour soups were the only almost eatable items. Even the fried rice wasn’t eatable. Then, when we tried to talked to the manager there came out yelling and saying that it was just us that didn’t like it and that he couldn’t change the menu just to make one person satisfied. The manager lacked all sense of professionalism or customer service. Neither my immediate family, extended family, any friends, or anyone I know will ever be returning. If this is the type of food or service that is awarded in Abilene, then we prefer to drive anywhere anywhere else within Texas.For a location that boasted about the amount of awards they had, definitely noticed none of them were for customer service.
The food is wonderful!But half the time, it seems they will forget to add sides of rice so our takeout bag and we end up driving back to the restaurant to get them.So always check your takeout order has all of its items!

First, let me say that the service was excellent. The restaurant was not busy. This was my first visit.I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken. The fried rice was very dry and had no taste. The chicken was “okay” but nothing to write home about. They didn’t have any egg rolls. Waitress said she could substitute fried won-ton. I was disappointed. After we got our plates, I overheard her tell another group that they had spring rolls instead of egg rolls. She didn’t tell me that.Overall I was not impressed. China Star restaurant much better.Won’t be returning.
Delicious Christmas lunch! Our server Clarence was very kind and helpful! Food was perfect and we were happy to spend part of our holiday here!
They were open on Christmas! How nice! Waitresses were very friendly, very attentive, and the service was actually fast even though the place was packed!
