Great food and service is fabulous
Excellent food. Waitress did a fine job. The place was clean. The wait for the food was crazy long for this place. It took us over 1.5 hours to get our food. We were about to leave when it was brought. Evidently most 9f the cooks walked out that evening and only 1 remained. Staff was apologetic. That long cost a couple of stars. Will likely be back, but will give them time to regroup and train new cooks.
I Stopped in at Catfish Corner along with a business associate for lunch today. It wasn't too busy. we were treated some very nice customer service, the staff was friendly enough. we did not have to wait very long to be served. the food was extremely good. hot and fresh. I don't know how much it cost as my associate paid the bill. But I believe that what ever it was it was definitely worth it. If I'm ever in Abilene again. I will certainly try to get back by there again
If you are in the mood for country home cooking and catfish, you will want to give them a try. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. It was a busy place so there was a little wait for our food. I feel if we would have told them we were in a hurry they would have really tried to accommodate us. It's a popular place. We had their catfish and seafood platter and there was so much food to fill us up that there was no room for dessert.
The chicken fried bacon was delicious, but it was the only fried food that wasn't dry. I'm not sure how you dry out fried catfish, but they did it. The frog legs had zero flavor and were dry, as well. The hush puppies were even dry and ketchup couldn't even save them. The coleslaw was bland. I really wanted to like this place, but pretty disappointed overall. This place also needs to hire more help. There were 2 waitresses. Not sure what the blonde one was doing, but the brunette was basically running the place. She was the greeter, the cashier, waitress for the majority of the tables, cleaned tables, and answered the phone when it rang. I even saw a customer who had the blonde waitress tip the brunette, instead.
Do not eat here! Catfish was recooked and each fillet was over cooked and hard. Fried shrimp was burnt and tasted horrible. We requested a new plate and they brought new plate with 1 fresh cooked catfish fillet and the rest was old fish that was reheated - they didn’t even taste like catfish. Absolutely the worst catfish and shrimp I have ever had in my life. Even the baked potatoes were shriveled and barely warm- the butter would not melt. The silverware was dirty, the floors were sticky and they had 1 server for half the restaurant- we waited 20 minutes for the server to get our drinks and to order- then waited 30 minutes for our food. Then we resent both of our plates and waited another 20 minutes to get another horrible late of food! We paid the ticket (worst $45 I have spent in a while ) but we will never be back - I have never written a review like this before but felt compelled to help others know that this place is the worst catfish I have ever eaten.
I really have difficulty rating this restaurant. I enjoy their food. Both times that we’ve eaten there, the food was delicious. A young lady wearing a blue knitted hat is a sweet, well-mannered, efficient, and cheerful waitress. I haven’t enough lovely adjectives to praise her. Her name may be Abrianna -that is the name on one ticket. However, a different person started to wait on us until she discovered that we wanted tea and appetizer while we waited for a “to go” order. At that point, she unpleasantly informed us we had to order everything at once and snapped, “Do you know what you want?” We’re from out-of-town and had been in a doctor’s office. So we asked for a menu. She brought menus and left without a word. This was a little after 2pm. There were 2 other couples so it wasn’t as if they were extremely busy. Several people came in for takeout orders that they had phoned in. This same person brought their food and took their money. Later, those customers left. Then, a couple came in. All laughs, joking, and welcoming by this short waitress and cashier. Seated and waited on. Later, another couple comes in and same routine. This was after we had waited and waited. At this point, I had decided to walk out and eat elsewhere but the short, dark headed waitress pointed at us and said to the young lady that just came in to work, “You can wait on them.” Using a very derogatory tone. And bless her heart, the beautiful lady with the blue knitted hat did wait on us. I was so frustrated and angry with the short, dark haired lady who was also acting as the cashier. We did have 6 orders, so I expected it to take some time cooking but mostly due to that woman refusing to wait on us, it was 5pm. before we left with our food. My daughter and I will be eating elsewhere from now on. Sorry for the length.
Hadn't been there in a couple of years. As usual the catfish was fantastic. Even my in-laws who had never been enjoyed it! Didn't get our waitress' name but she was Great. Looking forward to The Western Heritage Classic so we can eat at your place again
Place gave us dirty glasses then waited 40min for burnt hamburgers. Had them remake mine then they brought back one with rotted lettuce.
Went there to eat all you can eat catfish and more . we spent at least 100$ on food and other stuff only for myself , my son and my wife to get sick . our Waitress was on point keep our drinks full and treated us with a few good laughs . onion rings and fryed pickles and bacon was great . Catfish not so Great . WILL NOT BE GOING BACK EVER
