I loved this place as a child, teen, and yound adult, but during this visit..., last being 3 years ago, the food is not quite what it used to be. Grant it, the hush puppies were hot and decent, but the fish, okra, and potato not so much. And they didn't even have butter for the potato. I love my baked potato with butter and sour cream, so that soured my taste for the potato. The fish was way more battered than before. Barely in fish inside all that batter. The okra were cooled, and not seasoned enough. Yes, I will be back because as I stated, I love this place. It's my visiting home special spot, and I only hope next visit it's what it always has been..., delicious.
somehow the service and quality of food here has really gone down in such a bad way. it is upsetting as this trend towards giving the customer whatever and however is becoming prevalent, especially here in smyrna. i understand short staffed but the staff you do have train, continue to train, and have managers that are accountable for what gets put out. tonights dinner came wrong and the fish was wet along the whole side that was down. making a decision to eat out will not include captian d's again. PBJ would have been a better alternative.

I've NEVER had a great quick experience here. It's aways extremely SLOW and long wait times. The only saving grace is that I've never had a bad food experience. There's never a friendly greeting either.
Pulled up to the drive thru about 8:15pm and no one ever took our order. Waited atleast 10 min and still nothing.
A long time to wait to get the food, they make you pull up, then other people pull up behind me in the drive thru and get their food and drive off and I'm still waiting on mine. The food is good after I get it.
Even with a renovation going on they were serving. Great person at drive through. Very polite and very quick.
Lemon Pepper fish was so hot barely a leave to eat it even after scraping tons of black seasoning off of it. Usually there is some of a lemony sauce/juice the fish is in a distinct lemon flavor is present. Baked potato was dry and hard. Waste of money and cannot chance this again.
I waited 40 minutes past the time it was supposed to be ready and they got the order wrong. No white fish dinner and I can’t eat fried fish. Two dinners of fried fish! The 2 young girls at the window were not helpful or polite. One kept playing with her hair. I’m glad she didn’t touch my food with her dirty hands. Not a good experience at all! $50 down the drain!
Pulled up to the drive through a little over an hour before they closed. I sat in the drive through waiting 5 mins for someone to take my order. There were no other cars in line so after waiting , I pulled up to the window to see what the issue was and I saw two girls looking and laughing about the issue. I'm not sure if that normal for them to close early but if so the hours need to be changed online. If these are the normal hours then staffing is an issue they need to work on.
