Nice place food is...ok nothing special but not bad

Went for mother's day brunch as we had for years prior. The quality and variety has dramatically decreased while the cost has increased by a third or more.
An in-hotel restaurant off of Illinois Ave. Double tree by Hilton. It is really inexpensive but you get what you pay for. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and they go above and beyond. If you don't feel like driving off site, this would do. For the non pretentious crowd though. I had the shrimp and grits (would not recommend) and the chicken marsala. The bar is where it's at!
We ate here reluctantly after searching online for anything, anything at all that looked appealing within a 5 mile radius. We were seated in the bar and had a couple of cocktails which were well prepared. We split an order of Buffalo wings and an order of chicken "fingers. " They were both fine, nothing spectacular. We weren't terribly hungry so did not order dinner. The bartender/server was running her behind off making sure all of her tables and customers received good service. All things considered, it was a relaxing casual meal with a couple of well done cocktails after a long day of travel.
The chef apparently doesn't care about what he puts out. Ordered burger with bacon medium rare with crisp fries. Received no bacon, well done burger that was burnt, and fries not so crisp. Not satisfied at all.
Ok so I went here tonight, wasn't impressed. Now Megan was awesome! But the food? Yeah no. Ordered a rare steak that came out blue rare, literally had the cook and his "manager" come out to tell me it was cooked correctly and that hes been doing this for 41 years smfh. I don't think so scooter! I could have gone to McDonald's and got this disappointed honestly. Yes they tried to make another steak, but why? I'm currently trying to eat a bland steak and get out! But much kudos to Megan! Not really the servers job to cover for the cooks!No I actually paid for both steaks and yes the appetizer was covered.
Very nice Weekend buffet, excellent price. Service is amazing. Continental breakfast with made to order eggs and omelets.
