I've had a wildly different experience at the Berry Hill location. But in East, the pho portions were tiny in comparison & the beef looked almost like jerky. It normally is two meals for me. It tasted fine, but had no flavor depth. A major disappointment.
I don't totally understand the negative reviews...I ordered a vegan meal from here with my boyfriend and it was awesome. The tofu was super smokey and flavorful. Everything tasted really fresh and yum.
Vui's used to be so good. The quality of food has gone down drastically over the past year/six months. The chicken used to be bigger, crispier and juicier, and tasted way better. For the banh mi the bread used to be toasted and way better quality. Just had a banh mi at this location after not having one in a while and the chicken was dry and in thin slices and the bread was soggy and tasted completely different. Not sure if they are changing ingredients in all locations or just this one, I had the noodle bowl at the Bransford one recently and was also a little disappointed. Go back to the old ingredients!
Back to my favorite question to those of you who gave this 5 stars who hurt you?I had beef pho it's straight up tasted like fish . If it swims I do not eat it. I am not a seafood person and I will never be a seafood person. At home it's made from beef stock and* yes I have to check at each restaurant some do include types of seafood in the broth. It comes with everything in it the bean sprouts were soft like they were cooked in I have never had so many onions in my life in a bowl of pho in my life. The meat was chewy and inedible I almost choked trying to chew it and just skipped it and tried the noodles. The wrappers for the spring roll was just as bad they were extremely hard to chew. The peanut sauce was hot instead of sweet.Just keep driving. I am sure there is better pho in Nashville.
Prime location and a clean space to dine in, I feel the cost to proportion is a little off from traditional Vietnamese food. But it's in the heart of east so you're paying for that. It's not the best I've had but it's not bad flavor wise. The one south of Nashville is better imo and is where I took my fiance on our first date so im eating here once a year regardless ? ?.
I’m usually not one to leave negative reviews, but after reading the lovely review Eater Nashville left I feel like I should. They ranked it as the top 20 vegetarian places to eat, and while I found their menu to be extremely vegetarian and vegan friendly I did not find the food to be worth the money I spent on it. When I ordered the bao buns I was expecting a Banh Bao and not really Gua bao, but that’s splitting hairs. The main problem I had was that when I saw they had a vegetarian bánh mì with Lemongrass tofu, and I absolutely adore lemongrass tofu. I just knew that’s what I wanted. When I got my sandwich I was literally so disappointed. I ordered a vegetarian bánh mì which is supposed to come with lemongrass tofu, so tell me why my bánh mì had a fried egg on it? I would not recommend this test to anyone. For Eater Nashville’s Top 20 Vegetarian restaurants I really wonder what food they ate, because I wouldn’t rank it in my top 100. I’m hoping my experience was a one off and this restaurant is really worth it, but if you decide to go off one review then don’t go. Just go somewhere else. :(
Ordered a veggie sandwich from them on Saturday and had severe food poisoning Saturday night/Sunday. Not sure if the veggies were cut with a contaminated knife or what but all around not a great experience. Just notifying others to avoid that happening to anyone else! Enjoyed the food at the time but boy oh boy it was not worth being that horribly sick for 24hrs…Edit: contacted the restaurant to notify them and all they said was sorry that happened. At least a partial refund would have been nice but oh well! Safe to say will not be ordering here again
I ordered the pork belly noodle bowl. The noodles were way overcooked and mushy, the pork bell tasted burnt and had a gas taste and the overall dish lacked flavor. I will not going back.
The broth was very savory. The beef was tough and way too think. The basil I got was old and mostly black.
Love Vui's. Great Pho and a very cool staff. I recently moved from Germantown to Music Row, so I'm missing it being right down the street. Please put a Vui's by Jack Brown's on Edgehill.
