I ordered the chicken pan seared dumplings and they were so good. For the number of dumplings you get for the price isn’t that bad, but I wish it could be served with a side of rice. Overall, I was very impressed with the food and will ve returning.
Quick, tasty, and completely authentic. The soups are good, the dumplings are great, and the bao are amazing. They have a wide selection of boba tea and they are a great place to stop and get a quick bite. I must say, they are faster than Jimmy John's.
Stopped for a quick snack after a four hour drive. Delicious buns, especially the seared pork bao and the hot dumplings. Patio is dog friendly!
The food is tasty and most importantly it’s the best boba milk tea in Nashville. I’ve been trying to find a good one in here till today! I always go with no sugar, so it’s easy to tell which one has good tea and milk. Definitely recommend here.
I don’t know that Steam Boys is worthy of its astronomical ratings, but it’s very delicious and a solid pick for lunch. If you’re a long-time Nashville resident and haven’t driven down Second Avenue north of the Jefferson Street Bridge in a while, you wouldn’t recognize it. What was once an industrial area just outside the boundaries of Germantown has been replaced by apartment buildings, cozy restaurants, and tree-lined sidewalks. It is here that the trendy LC Germantown apartment building stands, pushing the neighborhood closer to the Cumberland River, broadening this little community and housing Steam Boys on the corner of Second and Madison. Their lofty ceiling, bright open space, and outdoor seating creates a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy delicious Chinese fare much different than the inauthentic fast food that doesn’t capture this country’s incredible cuisine. The juicy pork steamed bao bun is almost as if a French onion soup has been captured inside the chewiest dough you’ll ever taste. Anchored by a substantial pork meatball, the flavorfully juicy interior is released once you’ve cut through the thick walls of the bun. I’d give it a solid 4 out of 5. The pork and shrimp dumplings haven’t a hint of shrimp. Not one bit. It’s all pork as far as I could taste. It was by no means unappealing, but the six tasty dumplings for $10 was less inspiring than many dumplings I’ve had. I’d rate these a decent 3 out of 5. If you’ve ever been to Din Tai Fung in Los Angeles, now THAT’S a 5-star dumpling! On some sites, Steam Boys has average user ratings as high as 4.7, high praise from the locals indeed. While they aren’t quite that level of special (especially for those of us who have actually eaten in China), it is a great lunch spot with good food.
Great food and good service.
Fast and courteous service. I had the Beef Baos. Would recommend.
I was excited to try the food here and was not disappointed! I got the juicy pork bao and special dumplings. I will say - the dumplings were not just spicy- they were hot (I enjoy spicy food but this was much hotter than I was used to). I had to take them out of the sauce to try and enjoy the flavor of the dumplings themselves. Overall, I enjoyed my meal though!
