Wish I could give more stars, but the sushi just isn't that good. Every time I ask someone where the best sushi in town in they tell me Sonobana. The place feels very authentic (as in it's not also a Thai/Chinese/Korean/Vietnamese fusion place like every other 'sushi' spot in town) and the staff is very friendly. The pick up order was ready right on time and they even labeled all the boxes so I knew what was in each. Awesome! But at the end of the day: the sushi isn't that good. It's just not. I ate there once in the restaurant and it wasn't worth the price. Then I ordered a ton to take home and give it a second time. Same thing. Just not that good.I'm glad people like this place and I hope they're very successful because seems like a great group working there, but I won't be back and my search for good sushi in Nashville continues....

Cute little shop. Has plenty of the staples to pick up and a decent freezer selection. Delicious dango at the ready. Happy to support a small shop.

The atmosphere was very nice. The service was great! The food was average, and the chicken teriyaki was dry. We had to order more sauce. The pork shobayaki was a bit tough and also needed more sauce.

Udon (especially the broth) was great but the fatty tuna was just insane and definitely as good as people say it is. That fish specifically was expensive but so worth it especially around here where you don’t see it much. Staff was also friendly and the wait seemed to move pretty quick.

If I could give them more stars I would! My family and I were in town, and decided to take a chance with this place after seeing the reviews. They did not disappoint. We went on a Tuesday night and they were packed. I immediately knew the food had to be good. We waited about 40 minutes to be seated. I did not mind though I understood they were busy. Once we were seated and ordered our food we did wait a while. They were super busy, but the hosts and waitresses did their best to accommodate us. Honestly the wait for the food was worth it. Our sushi was superb and gone within minutes. If I lived here I would be a regular for sure. They were open way past closing time btw. We will be back for sure. I highly recommend them if you are craving Japanese food and sushi. 10/10!

Absolutely every thing we got was delectable. Service was attentive and just excellent all around. Highly suggest the fatty Salmon and fatty tuna. They practically melt in your mouth. 10/10 will be going again and again and again.

Great quality sushi with fresh fish and veggies! By far the best sushi I’ve had in Nashville for such a reasonable price.

As I was drinking a beer out of a pint glass I felt something hard and unusual in my mouth. I spit it out and almost threw up. It was a whole intact cockroach leg. I called the server over and didn’t want to make a scene and showed her. She brought it into the kitchen and showed the older man who is the owner or manger? He came over to my table and apologized, I told him it was going to be okay but I was disgusted. He awkwardly walked away… when we received our bill we were charged for everything except the beer. The whole dinner and experience was ruined and we were extremely unhappy with how the situation was handled. ALSO, as one of their employees came by to clear our table I told her what happened. She said we were the second people that evening to mention finding cockroach in their food. Hopefully they take care of this issue and if this ever happens again they will at least discount their customers check.

I got 2 fresh salmon nigiri, a spicy tuna roll, vegetable tempura dinner(came with Japanese salad and Mido soup), and green tea. Freshest salmon and tuna I've had anywhere in years! Clean and light. Likewise, the tempura was perfectly crispy on the outside, just the right level of cooking of the veggies inside. Friendly, efficient staff. I will definitely be back again soon! Been way too long.No pics because we were in the moment.

There was a super long wait after ordering the food, the wait for the food was probably longer than the wait to get a table which was 20-30 minutes. I was super excited to try this place after reading the reviews but left super underwhelmed. The food was mediocre but the scenery of the restaurant was super nice and cozy.
